Welcome to the Georgetown Lombardi Arts & Humanities Program (AHP)newsletter. In this week's issue we present a holiday message from AHP's faculty director, Julia Langley, provide links and new start dates to access our free online classes, and musician-in-residence Matt Peroutka offers a music video performance.

Holiday Reflection: A Message from AHP Faculty Director, Julia Langley

It's hard to believe that 2023 is coming to a close. It has been a time of growth and new possibilities for the Arts and Humanities Program.

With the opening of Medstar Georgetown University Hospital's new Verstandig Pavilion last month, the AHP is hiring new artists-in-residence to bring music, movement, visual art and expressive writing to the patients, staff, caregivers and visitors. Featuring 31 new operating rooms, a new Emergency Department, 156 individual patient rooms, a helipad, beautiful green spaces and parking, the Verstandig Pavilion offers state-of-the-art care and premier arts in health services.

Additionally, our free online arts courses will continue with expanded offerings for our wonderful community members in the US and around the globe. It's astonishing that AHP artists have been teaching online for two and a half years already!

As the AHP is funded through philanthropy, we are continually grateful for the ongoing support of the Frederick Henry Prince III Hospital Staff Morale Program, the Cecilia F. Rudman Arts and Humanities Fund, the Kathleen A. Beard Fund, The Wolpoff Family Foundation, an anonymous foundation, and gifts from many, many generous individuals.

Please consider giving a gift of any amount to support the AHP as we grow and aspire to make the arts and humanities central to human health.

All of us at the Georgetown Lombardi Arts and Humanities Program wish you and yours the very best this holiday season. We look forward to welcoming you in person or online in 2024!

With my warmest wishes for a season both healthy and bright,

Julia

The Georgetown Lombardi Arts & Humanities Program (AHP) promotes a holistic approach to healthcare for patients, caregivers, physicians, nurses, staff members, and students through the use of music, dance, expressive writing, and visual arts. These therapeutic modalities are normally provided throughout the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and online through Eventbrite courses. The AHP is a program of the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
