Hi, I’m Chris Kaftan and I’m the Director of Student Services here at The Learning Center for the Deaf (TLC). I am a white man with goatee, cropped brown hair, wearing a watch and a light gray shirt.

The reason for this email is to help all Marie Philip School (MPS) and Walden School (WS) families understand our process for free and reduced breakfast and lunches. How do you to apply, pay, etc.?

There are a couple important things I want to share with the families.

We recognize that many families are aware that their hometowns are providing free breakfast and lunch meals for students in public schools.

Unfortunately, TLC does not qualify for that program because we do not meet the requirements. Some caregivers have asked me if there’s any substitution or different program that can be offered.

We do have a letter and application form for you to review and fill out -- We have included these attachments with this email:
Please return these forms to TLC before September 30. We will screen all applications and communicate if your child is qualified for free/reduced price meals.

If you have any questions, contact me via email: [email protected].

Thank you!
Chris Kaftan
