Story time and adventure night on March 31 at the Wapello Elementary School was a big hit for kids and adults alike. They participated in a story led by IPTV KIDS Clubhouse host Dan Wardell, then explored apps on mobile devices in the school library. Adults were able to download apps to their own devices as well such, as the free iPhone app Fetch! Lunch Rush. Check out all the apps available from PBS here.

Basketball and Functional Relationships

Watch three demonstrations that highlight the functional relationships between a ball's height and distance traveled in this media gallery. In the accompanying classroom activity, students create graphs to show the trajectory of a basketball as players pass it in different ways: with a linear chest pass, a U-shaped (parabolic) pass and a V-shaped bounce pass. They then interpret a set of basketball-related graphs. To get the most from the activity, students should have experience graphing linear and nonlinear relationships on a coordinate grid.
