Noon Central on Thursday, September 8

Sept. 1 is the official halfway point of hurricane season, which is traditionally when storm activity peaks in the Atlantic Ocean. In April, forecasters predicted that 2022 would be 30% to 35% more active than the average hurricane season, yet we’ve seen little activity thus far. So the obvious question is: Could the United States experience an entire season’s worth of storms over the next three months?

Join AlertMedia’s in-house senior meteorologist Jason Moreland and Vice President of Global Intelligence Sara Pratley, who will answer your questions on how to adequately prepare for and respond to a hurricane.
JASON MORELAND is the in-house senior meteorologist at AlertMedia. As a New Orleans native, several hurricane encounters fueled Jason’s passion for meteorology at a young age. He graduated from the University of South Alabama with a bachelor’s in meteorology, with a focus on industrial meteorology. His professional experience within the private sector includes more than eight years of extensive domestic, international and offshore forecasting. Throughout his career, Jason has provided critical decision support to a wide range of businesses, live event venues, and sensitive utility and offshore projects ahead of impending hazardous weather.
SARA PRATLEY is vice president of global intelligence at AlertMedia, where she leads a team of experienced analysts to monitor emerging threats and incidents worldwide. Before joining AlertMedia, Sara was vice president of national news for CNN’s domestic newsgathering unit, where she led the network’s coverage of major events, including the Boston Marathon bombings, Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooting, several destructive natural disasters and more. Sara holds a bachelor’s in both sociology and broadcast journalism from Syracuse University, and was a Sulzberger Executive Leadership Program fellow at Columbia University.
BARRY BOTTINO covers worker safety for Safety+Health and serves as co-host of the magazine’s On the Safe Side podcast. He will moderate the webinar.
