March 24, 2020

Dear Parent:

Today, Greene County and the City of Springfield issued a stay-at-home order for the next 30 days, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday. View the order .

This order will impact the scheduled closure of our school buildings and more details will be provided soon . Tomorrow, SPS will introduce a new online learning platform to support students and parents. The platform is called “SPS at Home” and includes both virtual and printed resources. Learning will resume using the “SPS at Home” tool on March 30. Please watch for information by email this week.

Please Note: Essential services, including grab-and-go meals at all SPS schools and childcare for healthcare workers and emergency/first responder personnel, will not be affected by the stay-at-home order. Free, nutritious meals will continue to be available for anyone under the age of 18 years through a car line, anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. during the week, at the school that is closest to you.

These are certainly challenging times, but we want to assure you that SPS is here for you. We encourage you to follow the “stay at home” guidelines in order to promote a safer environment for all of Springfield. By following the order, each of us can help SPS and our community return to normal operations as soon as possible.

We will be in touch with more information soon. Thank you.
