Our community has expanded! Welcome students!

The Centre welcomes 33 new students this year across the online, part-time programs – Masters, Graduate Diploma and Certificate.

The cohorts capture the richness and diversity of the co-operative economy. Students come from consumer, producer and worker co-ops, associations and organizations servicing co-ops. They are from sectors including financial/insurance, food, agriculture, technology, development, education, daycare, law and retail.

Orientation was online this year and was vibrant, stimulating and joyful. Thanks to the alumni, professors and special guests who contributed to this year’s orientation.

Students kickstarted their classes in September. Wish them luck!

Registration is now open for 2022. Learn about these opportunities.

Thank you to our donors!

We want to express our sincere gratitude to our donors - co-op organizations and individuals - who enabled us to give $63,300 in bursaries this year, removing barriers to co-operative education. This is co-operation in action!

Congratulations to the graduating class!

A big congratulations to the 10 graduates who completed their Master of Management, Co-operatives and Credit Unions program in September. Seven students and their families came to Halifax/Kjipuktuk to celebrate this milestone.

A special congratulations goes to Rebecca Fisher-McGinty (far right in the photo below) for receiving the Pobihushy Award given to the student deemed by their colleagues as most exemplifying the principles and values of co-operation.

The International Co-operative Business Education Consortium

In the last few months, the Centre and the Co-operative Management Education Co-operative (CMEC) have been involved in the relaunch of the International Co-operative Business Education Consortium. Initially launched in 2013, the Consortium is a global network from which actors in co-operative business education can connect to better understand each other’s programs and mandates, collaborate where mutually beneficial, avoid overlap where possible, and ensure program relevance to meet the needs of co-operative and mutual enterprises globally.

The Centre and CMEC will serve as the Secretariat of the Consortium in the first two years of the relaunch – to provide continuity with its past iteration and security as it develops a renewed work plan. In July and September, The Centre / CMEC convenes gatherings of Consortium participants from 200 organizations in 45 countries – and counting.

If you are interested in joining or supporting the Consortium, or if you know of an organization that offers co-operative business education and is not yet involved, please get in touch: [email protected]
