Last week, the ROE joined nearly 50 partners for training on the Illinois Dual Status Youth Program—an effort to better serve young people involved in both the justice and child welfare (DCFS) systems.

"Dual status youth are among the most vulnerable students we serve, and too often they fall through the gaps between systems that don't talk to one another. As the coordinating and communication hub for this work, the Kane County ROE is proud to bring the right people to the same table: a judge, probation officers, assistant state's attorney, caseworkers, CASA advocates, and educators, all working from a shared, research-informed framework."

FREE workshop series to help navigate ISBE's redesigned accountability system

The ROE is offering a free workshop series to help school and district leaders understand and implement the Illinois State Board of Education's redesigned accountability system.

Running from July 2026 through May 2027, the series walks teams through the entire school-improvement cycle — from understanding summative designations to monitoring their School Improvement Plan and preparing for end-of-year review.

All workshops:

"Stuff the Squad" school supply drive

The ROE was proud to take part in the "Stuff the Squad" school supply drive at the St. Charles Police Department, hosted in collaboration with Big Hearts of Fox Valley.

Community members came together to fill a squad car with new school supplies for St. Charles School District 303 students, helping them start the school year off right. Thanks to the generosity of everyone who donated, students across the district will head back to class with the tools they need to succeed!

Since 2010, Project Backpack has directly impacted more than 26,000 students. Each year, this giveaway fair provides backpacks, school supplies, and other resources to over 1,000 local students.
