I've started writing pieces of this week's e-newsletter in my head over and over again in the past few days and I'm not sure I can quite get it together in a way that feels coherent and inspiring, but I'll try. I tend to shut down and turn inward when faced with uncertainty and fear versus acting out, but I also feel a commitment to my work and to our community. It is with that, that I attempt to write to you today... and why I made my way to the studio this morning to take a class... and why I will continue to be there throughout the days ahead... teaching, practicing, being.
I keep returning to the concept that each of us can lead by example. When faced with adversity, even as close to within our own families, how we show compassion, lend support, and give love is, in itself, an effort to teach others how we wish ourselves and others to be treated. It's our truth in action.... and it's meaningful.
Much like the Golden Rule, "Do onto others as you would have done onto you", I am reminded of the Sanskrit mantra:
LOKAH SAMASTAH SUKHINO BHAVANTU
and its translation by Sharon Gannon:
"May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all." Please know that in addition to all our regular classes, we've got some incredible events at the studio this weekend (more details below). Should you desire a safe and familiar space for you to explore your practice and feelings, know that we welcome you with open arms and hearts.
