  Freedom in Contentment

"I have learned to be CONTENT whatever the circumstances."

Philippians 4:1

In life, sometimes it's easy to get sooo focused on our dreams and goals that we tune out everything else. We can get to the point where we're not going to be happy until we see those things happen.

For me it all started with a red Schwinn bicycle with three gears, a horn and bike rack. Oh how I wanted that bike with double chrome fenders and a headlight. I just knew I'd be the happiest boy in the neighborhood. But it didn't stop there. It advanced to a red Pontiac GTO convertible, then a special girlfriend, a college education, a successful career, a big home with a beautiful wife, children and, and...

But I've found that if we have to have something in order to be happy, our lives are out of balance. When we are always chasing after something for our contentment it's a clear sign we're missing it. Solomon said it so well, "All is VANITY and grasping for the wind." Ecclesiastes 1:14

What's the solution? You've got to release it. Freedom comes when you can say, "God is Enough, and I'm turning it all over to Him!" My sufficiency is going to be in Jesus Christ, whose peace and joy I can posses regardless of what life gives me or takes from me!

When we learn to find our sufficiency and contentment in God and God alone, it takes away the power of the enemy. It takes away his ability to frustrate us. Just ask Job, David and Joseph. Not only that but by our actions we are showing our faith in God. When you choose to trust entirely in Him and find our contentment in Him, you can live in peace, you can live in joy, and you can rest in Him regardless of your circumstances.

Today, you can find peace and rest and contentment IN GOD! Colossians 2:10
