Librarian's Corner

I love this library.

You might think I’m a wee bit biased when it comes to that, but I don’t think so. Not too much, anyway.

Holiday Closure

The Library will be closed on Saturday, February 17th, in observance of Presidents Day. The book drop & sale in the front vestibule are available 24/7 for your convenience.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of New Hampshire (OLLI at UNH) is a member-driven, volunteer-based educational program for older adults. OLLI courses are non-credit, and there are no tests or grades – members learn just for the fun of it. They encourage members to “Come for the classes and stay for the friends!”

At the end of February, their Spring 2023 semester begins. With more than 110 courses offered in-person, in the community, or online via Zoom, OLLI at UNH offers something for everyone!

Registration for OLLI's Spring semester opens Monday, February 5th at 9 a.m. and classes begin Monday, February 19th. Prospective members are welcome to call their office at 603-513-1377 for more information on becoming an OLLI at UNH member and to register for courses.

Matinée Café

The Matinée Café is a monthly movie showing for adults on one Sunday every month! For January-March, there will be time for a light soup supper after the movie.

Mark your calendars--the next Matinée Café will be held on Sunday, February 18th. The house will open at 2pm, and the movie will begin at 2:30. Soup's on around 4:15. This month's movie is My Sailor, My Love (2023, NR).

If you'd like to volunteer to make a soup or bread for March's movie, there is a signup sheet at the Circulation Desk.

And the Oscar Goes to...

Grab a ballot from the LIbrary and fill in your predictions for 2024's Oscar winners! Turn in your ballot at the Library by 1pm on Saturday, March 9--make sure your name is on it! If your ballot has the most correct predictions, you'll win a DVD or Blu-ray copy of your choice of any of this year's Oscar-nominated movies!
