One part of the Library that doesn’t get the attention it deserves is the Young Adult section. Tucked into a corner next to the adult fiction, it’s often ignored by the less-young adults. There seems to be this idea that once you age out of a particular bracket, that literature is suddenly off-limits to you, that it no longer has anything to offer. I assure you that’s not the case.

Matinée Café

The Matinée Café is a monthly movie showing for adults on one Saturday every month! Before and after each showing, there'll be a chance to have some light refreshment and chat, or talk about the movie.


Mark your calendars--the next Matinée Café will be held on Saturday,September 16th. The café will open at 2pm, and the movie will begin at 2:30. This month's movie is Beautiful Beings (2022, NR).

Crochet with Amanda

Interested in learning how to crochet? Have a project you want to make and don’t know how to start? Join Amanda at the Library on Thursdays at 3pm starting September 21st, to learn how. Please bring your own crochet hooks. Please email Amanda at asst@freedompubliclibrary.org if you are interested or have any questions.

Game Night

Mark your calendars--we'll be bringing back Game Night on Thrusday, September 21st, from 5-7pm! Come join others for a fun time. Choose one of the many games the Library has available, or bring a favorite game from home. Bring a snack to share as well!

Candy Time!

The library will once again be collecting candy to distribute throughout the village to make sure trick-or-treaters are well-stocked. Donations of sealed bags of wrapped treats can be brought to the library from September 26 until October 21.

One Book One Valley

The 2023 One Book One Valley selection is The Bear, by Andrew Krivak. Copies are available at the Library for anyone who wants to pick one up and jump in early. The author talk for this year's selection will be on Thursday, November 2 at 7pm, at the Majestic Theater in Conway. For more information, check out the One Book One Valley website.

Mah Jongg

Mah jongg is back at the Library! Stop in on Mondays and Fridays from 1:30-4:30 to play.

Cribbage

Drop in at the Library on Wednesdays from 2-4pm for Cribbage! Boards and cards provided, but feel free to bring your own as well. Stop by and play the classic game with other folks. New players are always welcome to learn the ins and outs of the game.
