Welcome to a new school year! For as long as I remember, I have always loved the start of the school year. It’s a blank slate waiting to be filled with friends, reviving traditions and creating new memories.
I hope you had the chance to join us at the Back to School Parent Social last week. This event is becoming an exciting tradition. We parents get to “rule the school” by gathering in the Fan Zone, touring the school and previewing the Marching Band. Congratulations to the raffle winners: Tom Sammons, Dorothy Consolazio, Carrie Bending, Katie Panzino, Marie Nelson, Sylvia Poniecki and Tricia Ward.
The Back to School Parent Social is just one of the memories the Viking Booster Club has started to create. The Booster’s mission is to enhance the high school experience for all Fremd Students. Traditionally, we’ve done this by fundraising throughout the year and giving those funds back to the school in the form of Viking Booster Grants. This last year, we gave over $95,000 back to Fremd for items that are being used this school year,
This year, in addition to our traditional fundraising, we are putting more focus on cultivating the Viking Spirit. It takes a community to cultivate the Viking Spirit - teachers, staff, students and parents. On Tuesday August 23rd, we are kicking off our new “Class of” committees (one aligned to each graduating year). The goal of these groups is to work with Fremd to bring the VIking Spirit to life through fun new activities. Everyone is invited to join the kickoff meeting at 7:00 in Room 2.
The Booster Club depends on your support. I encourage you to look at how you can make a difference at Fremd by being part of the Booster Club. If you haven’t already, please join or renew your Booster Membership, then consider how you can volunteer an hour or two of your time to help build an even stronger Viking community.
Here’s to an amazing school year! Go VIkes!
