Friday Blast Header 2012
October 31, 2014

Hello Fremont -

I have to say that Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Although I have given up on the candy I love the costumes, kids and just everyone getting out the creative spirit to dress up and have fun. I mean how can you not have fun when you are dressed up!! I hope you have fun plans for this evening and don't just stay home.

My Pick of the week... not possible, too much happening just tonight to even attempt to pick one event. So, Fremonsters, put on those costumes and get out there to celebrate the fall and the creative, quirky neighborhood, in which we live, work or just party!! Costumes contests through the 'hood all night, I enjoy a tasty beverage as you watch kids trick-or-treat from 3p - 6p - what better reason is there to leave work a little early!

In the News, as you might expect lots of articles about what to do for Halloween - as if you needed ideas!! Also our local blogs talk about tomorrow's clean of Fremont - hope you can join. And Congrats to Fremont Brewing for taking away 2 Medals from the American Beer Festival!!

Have a great weekend & Happy Halloween!!

A HUGE Thanks goes out to the Fremocentrist for creating, growing and organizing Trick-or-Treat in Fremont!!
Here are just a few snaps from Kirby's article about Trick-or-Treat in year's past and what to expect in 2014 -- over 100 businesses in Fremont!! Including Google, Brooks Sports and way, way way too many more to mention.

If you are sans kids, I recommend finding a favorite watering hole and watching as the businesses hand out candy to kids as you enjoy a tasty beverage!!

Have a photo you love of Fremont, send it to [email protected] to get your snap featured in the Blast.

Solid Ground Holiday Giving Program

Every day Solid Ground works with extremely low-income families, experiencing homelessness or on the verge of homelessness in our community

This year we are asking for help so you can experience "giving and receiving" this holiday season. Solid Ground in partnership with community businesses has put together a holiday gift basket that will make this holiday season a little better for those in crisis.

These holiday gift baskets include:

  • 1 Kitchen Item (pot, pan, bowls, utensils, towels, etc.)
  • 1 Blanket or 1 Sheet set
  • 1 Children's book
  • 1 Children's toy (for each child in household  ~$10)
  • Gift card ($50-$75)for food (preferred locations include Fred Meyer, Wal-Mart, Target, Safeway, Big Lots, Grocery Outlet)

This year we hope to deliver holiday gift baskets to 175 families.  A donation of $125 will allow us to build one holiday gift basket and make one family happier this coming season.

In comment area add "Holiday Giving Program"

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK'S POLL:

Well as stated above most voted that dressing up is fun, but the majority just don't have time. And you might have noticed that I forgot to post results from the week before -- question, how do you get involved, if at all, with Fremont's groups -- most said that they are active with the Fremont Chamber through their business.

Watch out for trolls this Halloween weekend

Ballard News Tribune

We've heard that some are blaming recent traffic issues on a band of trolls visiting Seattle. It is true there are more collisions in Seattle during October than in any other month, but it is more likely due to changing weather and shortened days rather than mean-spirited trolls. The Seattle Department of Transportation advises people to keep safety in mind as they prepare for Halloween fun this weekend.
