LETTER FROM MRS. HOLMAN & MR. WOOD

Dear FES Students and Families,

Fall is upon us, and so is the completion of the first quarter of school, and what a fantastic first quarter it has been. If you walk the halls of FES, you will hear the laughter of happy students engaging in learning, the swoosh of dodge balls in PE, the squeaks and squawks of instruments in band, the melodic voices of students practicing for choir/music performances, and the swish of paint brushes in art. There is no better sound than the sound of students learning and having fun while they do it! We are so fortunate to have the families, students, teachers and staff that we have here at FES, and as we walk the halls on a daily basis, we are reminded of just how fortunate we are.

Fremont Elementary Bears are absolutely the BEST!

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 15th from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and then on Friday, October 16th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Teachers will be sending home sign-up sheets soon. If you have not paid your technology fee for your student, the Parent/Teacher Conferences are a great opportunity to pay all your students' fees. Fremont Elementary accepts cash and checks or you can pay online via your parent portal.

All students grade Kindergarten through 6th grades will be released at 12:00pm on Thursday, October 15th in order to provide adequate time for each parent/teacher conference. A sack lunch will be served prior to dismissal for those students wanting a lunch from the school that day. Buses will be providing transportation home. Please make sure that someone is there to meet them. Preschools and the FJSHS will have a normal schedule on Thursday, October 15th.

We have some other exciting activities coming up this month that we would like to highlight:

  • Book Fair! October 12th to October 16th - This is very exciting for our students. They love to go to the library to search and explore the idea of having new books to read.
  • Quarterly Awards - October 21st (Kindergarten - 3rd Grade) and October 22nd (4th - 6th Grade) at 3:30. Teachers will be recognizing students for excellence in academics, music, art, and PE, and perseverance. If your child is receiving an award your child's teacher will contact you.

Yours truly,

Mindy Holman and Dave Wood

One School One Book

We are excited to kick off our One School, One Book adventure! Your child will soon be bringing home their very own copy of The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary.

Our entire school will be reading the book together, and we invite families to join in the fun at home! Along with the book, your child will receive comprehension question cards. Complete the cards together for the questions (below) on the flyer and return them to school—each completed card will be entered into a prize drawing!

We’ll have drawings throughout the weeks leading up to our Literacy Night on November 11 from 5:00–6:30 p.m.

Happy reading, FES Bears! We can’t wait to share this reading adventure with you!

Art Fundraiser

Have your child's art work turned into creative gifts such as a coffee mug or a bag. The packets are going home on October 5th, and are due back to school on October 21st with delivery around Thanksgiving. Checks need to be made out to FES.

Parents, Guardians and Students,

This is a friendly reminder that all students should wear proper athletic footwear on their scheduled PE days. This keeps everyone safe while we run, jump and play in the gym. Thank you!!

************************************

This year I would like to continue to recognize students who are being active outside of school. This could be taking a walk with family, swimming at the pool, walking the dog, playing on a soccer team, doing gymnastics, playing football, riding a bike, playing catch at the park with a parent, running in a 5K or a variety of different activities. Activities could have been this past summer or during the school year.

If your child is being active outside of school, take a school appropriate picture, email Mrs. Miller (jacimiller@re-2.org) and I will print them out and place them on our bulletin board titled "Bears in the Wild"

Thank you and I look forward to checking out all the many ways our students are being active!!

If you have any questions please let me know.
