Beware of scams. With AI, people are being fooled into thinking they're speaking with real people, trusted contacts, or even family members. Always verify before sharing personal information or sending money.
With AI, your voice can be duplicated from just a few seconds of audio. Scammers can use this to impersonate you or your loved ones — asking for money, personal info, or access to accounts.
✅ Always double-check before responding to urgent requests
✅ Use safe words or verification steps with close contacts
✅ Never share sensitive info over the phone unless you're 100% sure who you're speaking to
A safe word is a pre-agreed word or phrase that only you and your trusted contacts (like family or close friends) know. It's used to verify identity in suspicious or emergency situations — especially useful now with AI voice scams or impersonation attempts.
How It Works:
- You and your loved one agree on a word or phrase that’s easy to remember but hard to guess.
- If someone calls or messages you claiming to be that person (especially with urgency or a money request), you ask them to say the safe word.
- If they can’t say it, it's likely a scam.
Example:
Let’s say you and your daughter agree that your safe word is "pineapple pizza."
If someone calls you, sounding exactly like her and says, “I’m in trouble, I need $500 now,” you calmly ask, “What’s the safe word?”
If they don’t know it or avoid answering — don’t trust them.
