The City of Fremont is excited to announce that a new rental assistance program, Keep Fremont Housed, will be launching on April 1, 2021 to assist eligible Fremont households and landlords financially impacted by COVID-19.

Virtual Student Art Contest
Coming Together with Hope

To celebrate the art, creativity, and resiliency of Fremont students, the Youth and Family Services Division of the Human Services Department, in partnership with Fremont Unified School District, is hosting the fourth annual Children Mental Health Awareness Art Competition and Exhibition. The theme this year is “Coming Together with Hope.” Students living in Fremont and attending FUSD schools are encouraged to submit art, photographs, poetry, and digital work including spoken word performance, podcasts and short films. Crisis Intervention Specialist Position
The Crisis Intervention Specialist will work as a member of the City’s Mobile Evaluation Team (MET), a collaboration between the Fremont Police Department, the City of Fremont Human Services Department, and the Washington Hospital Healthcare System. MET is a field-based team that provides comprehensive and compassionate services to Fremont’s most vulnerable populations, including community members experiencing homelessness or mental illness.

The Public Service Assistant II will be providing support to assist with the implementation of the department’s new electronic health record. This position will assist with a significant amount of data entry for both client records and billing purposes, required as part of the Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA) and the Health Promoter Program (HPP). Family Caregiver Support Program
Family Caregiver Support Program is accepting new referrals. This program is available to residents of the Tri-City area who are at least 60 years old, and/or are providing care for a loved one who is also at least 60 years or disabled.

Services offered by this program include:
  • information and referral to caregivers about available services
  • assistance to caregivers in gaining access to the services,
  • Individual, couple and Family Counseling
  • Caregiver Support Group: 
  • Caregiver Educational Trainings through Workshops and Classes 

All services are currently offered online.

Senior Peer Counseling Available
Why seek Senior Peer Counseling?

As you grow older, there are problems you may face such as: the stress of an illness, the loss of a job or a loved one, or a family conflict. These problems may leave you feeling confused, isolated, grief, depressed, lonely, and angry.

At these times, you may need to seek help from someone outside of your family or circle of friends to listen with empathy and compassion. Senior Peer Counselors are highly trained, non-judgmental volunteers who are committed to providing one on one counseling on the phone or in person, and accepting you as you are in the moment. Listening with empathy and compassion, together with their lived experiences, they can support you in your challenging times and help you work through your feelings and emotions so that you may continue to live a full and satisfying life.

Temporary Increase to CalFresh Benefits

Due to COVID-19, CalFresh benefits will be temporarily increased by 15% effective January 1- June 30, 2021

A supplemental benefit issuance for January and February 2021 was loaded onto EBT cards on February 7, 2021.
The March – June 30, 2021 benefit increases will be issued on the household’s normal issuance day.

Youth and Family Services has developed a Support Group to address and explore the ways in which COVID-19 has impacted families.

These groups can provide:
  • Safe & Confidential Space to Share
  • Stress Relief for Parents & Caregivers
  • Exploration of Strategies for Limit Setting and Addressing Challenging Behaviors
  • Identifying Ways to Improve Communication Between Family Members

Now offered in Spanish
  • English support group is on Tuesdays, 6:00 – 7:30pm
  • Spanish support group is on Wednesdays, 6:00 – 7:30pm
