Main Season Schedule

Saturdays 9am-12pm

The WFM is a producers-only, non-profit organization. It was established to provide a venue to sell farm-fresh, seasonal produce & specialty items to the Waxhaw area. Shopping at our market is a great way to support local agriculture, promote sustainable farming practices, and enjoy fresh and delicious food.

*Keep in mind that the types of products available at the farmers market may vary depending on the season and weather conditions*

Let's dive in and get to know your favorite vendors at the market. Yes, many vendors have been with us for years (and you know them well) others have recently joined our market family.

Spotlight on a Vendor!

Boy & Girl Farm: Joe and Amy Rohrer own and operate Boy and Girl Farm. They grow around 10 acres of vegetables year round. They believe vegetables to be the healthiest food to consume on a daily basis and love the joy and pain involved with farming.

Joe started working on farms as a teenager and quickly realized that growing food for people is what he was passionate about and wanted to do forever. He loves working in the dirt and has a natural instinct for caring for the land. Amy is a 4th generation farmer and has deep roots with the soil. In her early 20's she knew she wanted to come back to farming and began work at other farms. At one of these farms, Joe and Amy met, married a few years later, and started their own farm.

They grow a large variety of vegetables and herbs. They are passionate about tending to the land as best as we can. They use sustainable growing methods and plant only non-gmo seed and do not use any synthetic pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, or fungicides. Come meet the farmer who grows your food on Saturday.

Let's talk about Onions

Onions are versatile and widely used in various cuisines around the world. There are several different kinds of onions, each with its own unique flavor profile and culinary uses.

Properly storing onions can help extend their shelf life and maintain their quality. Here are some guidelines for storing onions:

  1. Cool, Dry, and Dark Place: well-ventilated area. Avoid storing onions near sources of heat, moisture, or direct sunlight.
  2. Don't Refrigerate Whole Onions: the cold and moisture can cause them to become soft or moldy.
  3. Cut or Peeled Onions: should be stored in the refrigerator. Place the cut side down on a plate or in an airtight container and cover it tightly with plastic wrap or a lid. Use the cut onion within a few days.
  4. Store Onions Separately: Onions release gases that can cause other produce nearby to spoil faster. Therefore, it's best to store onions separately from other fruits and vegetables. If storing different types of onions, you can keep them in separate mesh bags or containers to prevent them from touching.
