FINDING OUR RHYTHM
Swimming vexes me.  First, I can't see a lick without my contacts, and I've never invested in a good set of swim goggles.  So, I'm either swimming blindly without contacts, or trying to keep my head out of the water.  Second, I can't breathe underwater.  I understand the basics of the crawl, turning my head to find the pocket of air as my arm comes up.  The problem is I get winded as I swim.  When I want more air, the only solution is to swim faster, so that I can take my breaths more often with each stroke.  Swimming faster makes me . ..( READ MORE ) .
PRESBYTERY PULSE
WELCOME TO KATE HOPTA!
The Presbytery is pleased to welcome Kate Hopta as our new Communications Coordinator.   She will begin on January 3, 2019.  Kate comes to us with a long history of non-profit experience at church
camps and, most recently, as the   Executive Director for The Arc of Jefferson and Clearfield Counties in Pennsylvania.  Kate knows the nitty-gritty of the Presbyterian Church (USA), having graduated with her M.Div. from Louisville Seminary and having served the church in various capacities and levels.  She is married to Rev. Brett Swanson, who is co-pastor at Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church, and they have one daughter, Zoey, who is almost 2 years old.  Her experience in editing and publishing information on both large university websites and smaller non-profit websites, as well as developing and implementing social media plans, will be a wonderful complement to the ministries of the Presbytery.   Welcome Kate!

NEWS FROM THE DENOMINATION
NEXT CHURCH TO MEET IN SEATTLE
"Ruth and Naomi's lives were woven together in a season of despair and displacement. Environmental trauma, poverty, forced migration, food insecurity, personal vulnerability, and power differentials continue  to shape our shared human experience now as it did then. God interlaced the threads of Ruth and Naomi's individual stories. Through God's weaving, these women learned mutual sacrifice, found healing community, and shared liberation." That's the way NEXT Church introduces its coming national gathering on its website. The event takes place March 11-13 at First Presbyterian Church in Seattle. The theme: "Woven Together: Stories of Dissonance, Sacrifice and Liberation." Details, including registration information, are at "NEXT Church."

LONGEST NIGHT SERVICE
December 20 * 7 pm * Faith Springs Presbyterian Church

On December 20, please join us at 7 pm at Faith Springs Presbyterian Church in Pewaukee for a service of prayer and reflection, a time when we can acknowledge these situations (whether our own or not) and lift them to God.
