CHANGING LANES 
Living near Milwaukee subjects me to those freeways signs that report the timing to certain exits.  As I leave the office, I can gauge my commute home based on this ever-current traffic report.  Sometimes the Good Hope Road exit is only 13 minutes away, giving me cause to celebrate.  My spirits sink, however, when I see it will take 30 minutes or more to get there, usually because of an accident or just bumper-to-bumper traffic.

When I see these signs, I admit my first instinct is to change lanes...so I can get where I'm going faster.  If the sign reports that Good Hope Road is 24 minutes away, I immediately assume... ( READ MORE ) .

The Stewardship Conference scheduled for June 12th has been postponed.  We hope to reschedule our time with Minner Serovy and Rhonda Kruse in the fall.  The Presbytery Office will publicize the rescheduled date as soon as it is available.
NEWS FROM THE DENOMINATION
WELL-BEING RETREAT
Each summer the Board of Pensions and the Presbyterian Foundation sponsors a Well-Being Retreat for active and retired members of the Benefits Plan and of the PC(USA).  It offers ministers and other church workers, as well as spouses and surviving spouses, time away from routines to think, breathe, and renew.  

This year's annual gathering is scheduled for August 19-21 at Montreat Conference Center in Western North Carolina.  Registration for the Well-Being Retreat will opens June 12th.
INVITATIONS
COLLEGIUM LADYES PRESENT REMEMBER THE LADIES
The Collegium Ladyes vocal ensemble brings their exquisite blend and shimmering harmonies to this diverse music program, which is free and open to the public on Sunday, June 9th, at 3:00 p.m.  The opening Hebrew songs celebrate themes of peace, followed by a group of sacred Latic pieces.  Works of Palestrina, Durufle, and Victoria are featured, as well as the delightful "Ave Regina Caelorum" by 17th-century composer and Benedicting nun, Chiara Margarita Cozzolani.

The centerpiece of the program is Niccola Porpora's "Magnificat," a brilliant multi-movement work composed for the girls of the Ospedali degli Incurabili, on of the Venetian orphanages renowned for its exceptional musical training.

STRAWBERRY FEST
Greenfield Avenue Presbyterian Church's annual Strawberry Fest will take place at the church on Sunday, June 23rd.  In addition to the usual shortcakes and sundaes, you can enjoy tasty treats from the bake sale, buy 50-50 raffle tickets, check out raffle baskets, and children can play free games.

STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL
Sun Valley Presbyterian Church's Strawberry Festival will take place at the church on Saturday, June 22nd.  From 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. participants can enjoy games, music, raffles, craft items, food, and strawberry ice cream.  There will also be a pancake and crepe breakfast and picnic lunch.  Find out more about Sun Valley's Strawberry Festival here.

THE ART OF TRANSITIONAL LEADERSHIP
September 16-20, 2019 at Christ the King Retreat Center, Buffalo, MN 
This week-long conference, presented by the Synod of Lakes and Prairies, focuses on learning ministry skills for today's and tomorrow's church pastors, staff, COMs, and congregational leaders.  Materials presented will include the pasics of transitional ministry, best practices, including how to analyze a congregation's strengths and growing edges, and how to keep moving toward a vibrant future.

WEAR ORANGE WEEKEND
June 7-9, 2019: There's more we can do to stop gun violence 
Organizations and individuals around the country are coming together this weekend to honor those affected by gun violence in America.

Is your church observing this weekend with prayer, litanies, or sermons on this topic?  The Wisconsin Council of Churches would appreciate hearing what you are doing.  The WCC is collecting materials for a new resource on Faith and Gun Violence.


You can also watch the PC(USA) General Assembly State Clerk, Rev. Dr. J. Herbert Nelson II, call on lawmakers to take a tougher stand on the sale of weapons with high-capacity magazines and pass "commonsense" gun legislation in this May 23, 2019 video conversation.
"UNRAVELED" HYMNS 
Are you using A Sanctified Art LLC's worship series "Unraveled"?  PC(USA) Teaching Elder Stephen Fearing has written 12 hymns inspired by scripture used in "Unraveled."  These hymns may be accessed and used for free, with appropriate credit given, through Rev. Fearing's website

Since 2000, the Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity and the Presbyterian Coalition have helped make affordable housing a reality for 19 families in Milwaukee.  It's time to build again!

Get involved! There are on-site opportunities and ways to help without lifting a hammer and you will be working along side five congregations from our Presbytery.
