FROM RACHEL YATES, PRESBYTERY EXECUTIVE
A LETTER TO MY CHURCH
Dear Church,
I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know how proud I am of you.  You were busy last weekend, and you did good, faithful work.
On Saturday, we held our second Lombard Mennonite Peace Center workshop on healthy congregations, and thirteen of you came to learn.  You honed your skills in conflict transformation.  Thank you for striving to be a church of peace, in which disagreements are handled in a productive and Christ-like way.  On Sunday, I witnessed you. ..( READ MORE ) .

NOVEMBER PRESBYTERY GATHERING

re: RE - 'THE GIFT OF SPIRIT'
Rev. Joan Gray has written the most recent installment of Regarding Ruling Elders, a monthly resource of the Office of the General Assembly. She notes, "For the early church, the infallible evidence of being a Christian was the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Jesus, at work in a person's life. The ways the Spirit manifested varied from person to person (not everybody spoke in tongues for example), but the bottom line was this: if you were a true believer, you received the Holy Spirit." Gray's complete column is at  " Regarding Ruling Elders ."
GET TO KNOW OUR PASTORS
WH O WAS THIS?
This pastor has a  Bachelor degree in  Landscape Architecture and a Bachelor of Science degree in Ornamental Horticulture.
Congratulations to Linda Gibbs, beloved child of God and mother of Ann, who was the first to guess that this is Will Houts. FEATURED CONGREGATION
WHICH CHURCH IS THIS?
This congregation has bike racks so members can ride their bikes to church, and they do! They have two victory gardens on their front lawn and members and neighbors can help themselves.  Grateful for their unexpected surge of children under the age of 2, they have created an "Itty Bitty Committee" for parents of toddlers and that "committee" started an "Itty Bitty" Yoga Class for parents and their toddlers.      Answer is  here.
BEHIND THE SCENES
GA AMENDMENTS
As we prepare to vote on Book of Order amendments at an upcoming Presbytery meeting, Fresh Impressions will give you a preview of the proposed changes.  This first week, we reflect on proposed language for congregational Nominating Committees, requiring them to have a minimum size of three, with at least one current Session member, and the majority of the committee comprised of people who are not currently serving on the Session.  Click here for the text of the full change.  To read all proposed amendments, click here.
MONTHLY PRAYER GROUP
On the third Thursday of each month, we invite you to join with the Presbytery staff and others from our Presbytery to pray for the needs of our community and world.  We meet at the Presbytery office at 1 pm for a half-hour to pray for our churches, ministries, ruling elders, deacons, and pastors, as well as intentions beyond our church community.  Feel free to join us in person or in your own location.  If you have a prayer request for the team, please send it to Rachel Yates at ryates@pbymilwaukee.org or by telephone. Our first prayer group last week gave us a chance to make new friends and renew longtime friendships with those who came to pray.
