Fresh Start Khabar
Khabar, "news" in Farsi, is Fresh Start's monthly newsletter.

Your generosity has given Fresh Start the ability to help families with direct resettlement efforts, employment search, and skill-building initiatives. Thank you for the support that has made this possible! Keep an eye out for all the exciting things coming up in 2023 including more workshops, training, and community events. More than ever, we need volunteers. Please consider donating your time to the community.

Whether you can help with linguistic needs, create resumes, line up jobs, or provide transportation, Fresh Start needs you! Visit our website and sign up to become a volunteer.
Nowrooz
Fresh Start and our partners, NOVA Raft & William Ramsey Rec center, held a Nowrooz event to celebrate the start of spring and the Persian new year. It was an opportunity to celebrate culture and community with over 300 in attendance, many in beautiful ethnic Afghani clothes. Celebrations included Afghan music, dancing, and cake. The kids enjoyed egg painting, building and flying kites, and even henna tattoos! Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who helped host the event.
Another RTI Success Story!
Thanks to a generous donor who gifted their used car to a newly arrived family of 9! The primary breadwinner is now able to obtain a better-paying job, because he has a reliable means of transportation. In return, he will support his family and hopefully reach a new level of independence. If you have a used car and want to help a family in need, please reach out to Fresh Start. Your donation is tax-deductible and volunteers will make sure the process is smooth for you.
Emergency Resettlement
The Fresh Start team continues to be proactive with ad hoc case management support for the refugee community. Our team members volunteer, on a daily basis, to help newly arrived families resettle into their homes. This month, over 50 individuals were assisted by our team. Activities included finding affordable housing, home furniture set-ups, applying for state benefits, setting up & accommodations for medical appointments, enrolling children into school, fundraising for emergency needs, and ensuring food supply for the most vulnerable.
