What was your very first job-related task at the credit union? How did it go?
I was hired as a manager. It was a little confusing at first. I had to figure out the, then, Linn-Co procedures from previous employer's procedures.
What's the funniest or most surprising thing that
ever happened to you at work?
During a snowstorm, we had an employee cross-country ski to work. She actually came from the 34th St. area to Santiam Highway in Albany!
What's one piece of "unofficial" wisdom you'd pass down to new employees?
Figure out a good way to organize your 44 North CU info as it is given to you when news procedures/forms come out.
If you could give your younger self on your first day here a pep talk,
what would you say?
Be outgoing and ask more questions!
How has working at the credit union shaped you personally or professionally?
Over the years, I have become a much more outgoing and organized person.
What advice would you give the next generation of employees
who will carry the mission forward?
Always communicate with staff, members, etc. Always treat your members the way you would want to be treated if you were the member.
Do you have a "first day of retirement" plan - even if it's just sleeping in?
Driving to the Boardman/Hermistan area, where my husband has
been working on a project.
What part of your daily work routine do you think you'll miss the most
(or not miss at all)?
After a month or so, I think I'll miss the interactions with people.
What are you most looking forward to in retirement
that you never had time for before?
Traveling, of course, camping, going to all of my grandkids' events, and traveling with Todd when he travels for work.
Is there a hobby or passion you're excited to dive into more fully now?
Spending more time working in the yard/garden!
We are so proud to have had Karen M. on our team.
Please help us in wishing her a happy retirement!
