Freshmen College Planning

Freshmen and Parents,

The Office of School and College Counseling recently presented to all 9th-grade Bible classes. Students were introduced to the College Planning Handbook with Mrs. Perrow and reviewed the 9th Grade Planning Checklist, focusing on these three topics from the checklist:

Work to Your Potential

Students reviewed an example of a CVCA transcript, discussed report card grades versus final semester grades, and how final semester grades are calculated, including exam grades.

Consider Your Strengths and Interests

YouScience is a program that allows students to get a glimpse into their unique design by God as social creatures, problem solvers, and learners. These insights lend themselves to refining (and individualizing) students’ scheduling choices at CVCA, their college search, and their professional interests. Students are encouraged to share these results with their families.

Explore the Resources Available in Naviance

CVCA uses Naviance as a college planning tool, which includes career interest inventories, college searches, and ACT/SAT preparation resources. During class, students were able to activate their Naviance accounts, explore the college search features, and complete one career-interest inventory.

Please ask your student to share these results with you and encourage them to discuss with their school counselor during their scheduling meeting this winter.
