For the second consecutive year, Sunnyside Marketing and Marketing students interned at Chukchansi Park with the Fresno Grizzlies. Students were able to take images that were critiqued and used in various social media platforms by the Fresno Grizzlies.

Edison Biomedical students had an opportunity to learn alongside licensed medical providers assisting with sports physicals at various campuses as part of an internship with Fresno Unified Department of Health Services.

Over a series of three summers, students come to the UC Berkeley campus and engage in paid, intensive learning experience internships as part of the NAF Academy program designed to advance STEM preparation. There was a competitive application process and out of 50 available spots, 23 of them were awarded to Fresno Unified students. For more information on NAF, click here.

McLane Medical Instructor, Jennifer Pennington, spent time at Camarena Health this Summer. She was able to learn from Health Educators, front office support staff, Registered Dietitians and a Dentist. She was happy to observe the emphasis on infection control, as she stresses the importance of this with her students.

Edison Mental Health CTE instructor, Abraham Perez, learned Crisis Intervention methods through NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Abraham plans to "incorporate lessons so students can identify and synthesize how different demographic groups needs are different than others."

Duncan Polytechnical Manufacturing Instructor, Douglas Urabe, was able to spend a week with PNM, a CNC Machining company. This experience has opened opportunities for future collaboration with the PNM staff.

Roosevelt Public Service CTE instructor, Krishnna Reyes, completed a 48 hour ride along with Fresno Fire. He stated this experience provided first-hand knowledge to share with his students.

This summer, Fresno Unified hired 178 students to work as paraprofessionals in elementary classrooms during summer school. The students assisted teachers in preparation, classroom management, lesson delivery and also took part in professional learning each week. This opportunity provided students with work experience and knowledge in the teaching field to assist them in their future educational and professional goals.

In June 2019, 77 Fresno Unified students participated in the 4 ^th  annual Sports Science Institute, a week long camp that exposes students to a variety of programs and careers within the field of Kinesiology at Fresno State. The institute is a partnership between Fresno State’s Kinesiology department and Fresno Unified School District and is designed to give students hands-on experiences in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Physical Education and Sports Psychology.
