Introducing our summer theme: Unraveled
|
What happens when our world falls apart? How do we press on when our tightly-knit plans unravel into loose threads? What do we become when our identity
—
or the path we're on
—
comes undone? In our unraveling, sometimes life surprises us with unexpected joy, love, and hope
—
with a new beginning we couldn't have imagined. Sometimes we need God to unravel us, for we long to be changed.

Job's Loss (Seeking Understanding When Everything Has Fallen Apart)
We will do our best to see this story of loss in a new way, and these times offer us a unique opportunity to do just that. We will start by thinking about why we feel so bad for Job, because generally when someone who is very, very wealthy suffers a loss, we don't feel this way. Why do we care so much about Job losing his stuff? Maybe it tells us something about our relationship to our stuff.
Good and gracious God, we are sometimes inconsistent in how we apply our ideals. Help us to orient our understanding to your way of measuring and to follow your Son, Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.

Sunday School will start back up in the fall
|
Thank you so much to all the families who joined us over the past few months for Zoom Sunday School! It was so wonderful to see your smiling faces and catch up with you each week. Now that summer is in full swing, our Sunday School program year has ended. We look forward to starting up the Sunday School program again in the fall, however it may look!

WONDERING...REAL QUESTIONS FROM REAL PEOPLE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT GLC
|
Is God proud of us?
God loves us. I don't know if proud and disappointed are helpful words to use. In the Bible, we see God challenging the people He loves to do really difficult, uncomfortable things. To take steps when they don't know where the steps may lead or when they know they lead to something hard. To take risks to care for others when we are afraid. Our country and our world are dealing with exceptionally difficult things. What is giving life and hope? That's where God is. And God loves us enough to want us to be there, too, even if it demands that we do some really hard work. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength! (Phil. 4:13) and YOU can too.
