Rowlett to Unveil
Safe Haven Baby Box
Community members are invited to attend a blessing ceremony for Rowlett's new Safe Haven Baby Box on Tuesday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at Fire Station No. 1, 3900 Miller Road. The event will feature remarks from Monica Kelsey, CEO and Founder of Safe Haven Baby Boxes, whose organization has helped expand these life-saving resources across the country.
The Safe Haven Baby Box provides a safe, legal and anonymous option for parents in crisis to surrender a newborn. The temperature-controlled box is monitored 24/7 and immediately alerts emergency personnel when accessed. Rowlett is the first in Dallas County to install a Safe Haven Baby Box, made possible through the support of Evander's Construction, the Rowlett Firefighters Association and the Rowlett Police Officers Association.
