Connecting Waters

Led by: Janet S

Join us for our Annual Water Communion, a ritual that celebrates our gathering together for a new church year. The Unitarian Universalist Water Communion is a traditional UU celebration that connects us all to each other and to our 6th principle: To Affirm and Promote the Goal of World Community with Peace, Liberty, and Justice for all”.
Our celebration this year will be a virtual one. However, everyone will have an opportunity to share the importance of or connection to water in their life.
Join us for Conversation:
Beginning at 9:45 via Google Meet or by phone @ 1-361-360-8585‬ PIN: ‪992 842 341‬#. This will be our space to chat and socialize before and during the service. We will also share Candles of Community immediately following the service in this same meet.

Watch the Worship Service:
Our Sunday morning service will be available live via Facebook, Youtubeor PrairieUU.org.
Join us after morning service for small group discussions and gathering online via Google Meet.

In Service,

From the Board ...

The Board met on Wednesday September 16. We will be considered the role of the Board with Standing Committees. The Bylaws require a Board Liaison for each Standing Committee. We discussed what the Liaison should do to support Committees. In addition we considered how Committees work with the Liaison to communicate needs and ideas to the Board.

We also talked about PrairieUU's Communication needs for members and to our external audiences. We need an active and involved Communications Committee.

We will also be exploring additional fundraising ideas that the Finance Committee suggests. What are your ideas about this?

Last Sunday we began our fall program year. The service was meaningful, forward looking and had a new, welcoming format. We also learned about our new religious education materials, Soul Matters. Lots of great resources to learn and grow spiritually. If I can answer questions, please let me know.

In Covenant,

Vivian Littlefield, President
Finance Committee …

On Wednesday, September 16 at 6:00 PM, the Finance Committee met. Items discussed included the current status of PrairieUU's finances and ways that PrairieUU might raise extra funds.

Any PrairieUU member who might wish to join the Committee should contact Clark Huff.

In Covenant,

Finance Committee Chair
Rhonda’s Ribbons

Economic Resources
Wednesday September 23 is the last day families can apply for Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT). P-EBT provides eligible families with funds to help buy food since schools were closed this spring due to the pandemic.

Households that were eligible for free or reduced-price meals at schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program can receive up to $279 per eligible child in benefits to buy food. P-EBT is for all families with eligible students, regardless of immigration status, and P-EBT is not part of the public charge rule. Currently, more than 200,000 eligible students still need their families to apply for these vital food benefits.

Some families who were enrolled in SNAP benefits this spring may have automatically received P-EBT on their SNAP cards back in July, but all other eligible families must apply before September 23, 2020. To learn more about Colorado’s P-EBT program, please visit the Colorado Department of Human Services website.
