New Jersey Update
This afternoon, New Jersey reported an additional 6,260 new positive COVID-19 cases, increasing the statewide total to 1,150,769. An additional 16 deaths were announced, increasing the statewide total to 25,840. The rate of transmission is 1.23, indicating that each infected person is transmitting the virus to at least 1 other person. 13,236,883 total vaccinations been administered in NJ, with 6,332,770 people fully vaccinated.

On Monday, Governor Murphy held a press conference. He announced that, since last week, those ages 16 and 17 and received the Pfizer vaccine as of 6 months ago, are now eligible to receive the booster. Those 18+ who received the Moderna vaccine 6 months ago, are also eligible for the booster. Everyone who received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine at least 2 months ago, is eligible for the booster as well.

Wednesday, December 15th marked year anniversary of the first vaccinations in NJ. The day was commemorated as Boost NJ day.

He reminded NJ residents that December 31st is the cutoff date for the grace period of utility shutoffs related to COVID-19 related issues resulting in non payment. The BPU's annual winter termination moratorium on gas and electric shutoffs is in effect through March 15, 2022. To learn more, visit here.
