Winter Storm Response and Recovery

As the state continues to dig out from this week's strong winter storm, we want to sincerely thank the utility crews, first responders, DelDOT personnel, and all the men and women who worked long hours in dangerous conditions to restore power, clear roadways, and keep our neighbors safe. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and Delaware is grateful for your service.

Joint Finance Committee

The Joint Finance Committee has completed four weeks of its month-long budget hearings.

Due to this week’s winter weather, Tuesday and Wednesday's hearings were postponed and have now been rescheduled. The Joint Finance Committee will reconvene this upcoming Monday, March 2, at 9:00 a.m. and Tuesday, March 3, at 10:00 a.m. to make up for the missed sessions.

Visit legis.delaware.gov for the full schedule and daily hearing agendas.

302 Day of Service

On March 2, 2026 (302 Day), residents across Delaware are encouraged to make it a day of service by giving back to their communities. Through Keep Delaware Beautiful, individuals and groups can plan a neighborhood or park cleanup, check out a free litter cleanup kit from any Delaware library, or encourage their school to join the Litter Free School Zone program to help create a cleaner campus. Learn more and find ways to get involved at KeepDelawareBeautiful.com.

For The Record Podcast

Due to this week’s winter weather, For the Record took a brief pause, but we’ll be back next week with a new episode and fresh conversations.

DOC's Citizen Academy

The Delaware Department of Correction is now accepting applications for its Spring 2026 Citizens Academy in New Castle County. The six-week program runs Tuesday evenings from April 14 through May 19 in the Wilmington area and offers participants a behind-the-scenes look at prison operations, probation and parole, community corrections, and reentry efforts.

Open to Delaware residents age 18 and older, the academy includes presentations, facility tours, and discussions with DOC leadership, staff, and incarcerated and reentering individuals. Applications are due by March 20 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the class is filled.
