Girl Scout Allyson McLellan

I had the pleasure of welcoming Allyson McLellan, a senior at Caesar Rodney High School and member of Girl Scout Troop 1027, to Legislative Hall Wednesday morning. During her visit, she discussed her Gold Award Project, which is to fund two additional AED devices for the Camden-Wyoming Little League. Currently, they only have one. Further, she wishes to fund more signage directing visitors to each AED's location.

I think this is a great idea and I admire her work on this initiative. The average cost of one AED is $1,500. For more information or if you wish to contribute to her effort, she can be reached directly via phone 302-229-4906 or email almclellan04@gmail.com.

Delaware Psychiatric Center

feasibility study

Wednesday, I attended a meeting discussing the findings of the Delaware Psychiatric Center's feasibility study. The purpose of the study was to assess the costs associated with replacing the over 50 year old facility with the goal of greatly improving the care for Delawareans with severe mental illnesses.

The estimate stands at about $200 million, with much of the funds coming from the American Rescue Plan Act, also known as ARPA. This is a worthy investment and will improve the lives of those who suffer from these debilitating mental illnesses.
