16th Annual Caregiver Conference

Family caregivers are invited to attend the 16th Annual Easterseals Caregiver Conference on Wednesday, August 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Bally's Dover. The conference is free to attend and will also be available virtually via Zoom.

This year's theme, "Taking Care of You," emphasizes the importance of caregiver wellness while providing practical tools, educational sessions, and access to community resources. More than 275 family caregivers and 40 exhibitors are expected to participate, offering attendees valuable information, support, and opportunities to connect with others facing similar challenges.

Whether you are caring for a spouse, parent, child, family member, or friend, this conference is designed to help you navigate the challenges of caregiving while prioritizing your own well-being.

Ribbon Cutting of the Mill

Senator Richardson joined State Rep. Danny Short, Rob Herrera, Seaford Mayor Matt MacCoy, Wilmington Mayor and former Governor John Carney, and many other community leaders Wednesday for the ribbon cutting of The Mill at the revitalized Nylon Capital Shopping Center in Seaford.

For many of us, this property represents an important part of Seaford's history. After years of sitting largely vacant, it's encouraging to see it transformed into a place that will support entrepreneurs, small businesses, remote workers, and new investment in western Sussex County.

The Mill is just one piece of a larger redevelopment that will also bring education, health care, banking, retail, and other opportunities to the site. Projects like this have the potential to create jobs, strengthen our local economy, and breathe new life into the city.

Thank you to everyone whose vision, partnership, and hard work helped make this project a reality. I look forward to seeing this investment continue to benefit Seaford and the surrounding communities for years to come.

Western Sussex Chamber of Commerce Breakfast

This week, Senator Wilson joined Representatives Danny Short and Tim Dukes at the Western Sussex Chamber of Commerce Business and Economic Development Breakfast to discuss the recently concluded legislative session and answer questions from members of our local business community.

Thank you to the Western Sussex Chamber of Commerce and everyone who attended for the thoughtful discussion and great questions. Hearing directly from the people we represent is one of the most important parts of the most important parts of the job.

Statewide Guidance for Treating Opioid Use Disorder

Last week, Senator Buckson joined healthcare leaders, addiction specialists, and state officials as Delaware announced new statewide guidance for treating opioid use disorder in our hospital emergency departments.

Too many Delaware families have been impacted by addiction. Creating a more consistent approach that connects patients experiencing withdrawal or recovering from an overdose with treatment and long term support is an important step toward improving outcomes.

Since joining the Senate, expanding access to effective treatment and recovery resources has remained one of my priorities. I look forward to continuing to work with our healthcare partners and colleagues to strengthen our response to substance use disorder and help more Delawareans find a path to recovery.
