Recognizing our Fellow, Matt Froden

On Thursday, the Senate Republican Caucus had the opportunity to recognize our Senate Minority Fellow, Matt Froden, on the Senate floor for his service throughout this year's General Assembly.

Matt is a student at the University of Delaware, where he is pursuing dual majors in Political Science with a law concentration and Economics, while also minoring in Philosophy and Legal Studies. In addition to his academic achievements, Matt serves as a Political Science Ambassador, is President and Captain of UD Rugby, and is a certified Head Rugby Referee.

Throughout the legislative session, Matt has been a valuable member of our team, assisting with policy research, legislative analysis, and the day-to-day work of the caucus. His thoughtful approach, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn made a meaningful impact during his time with us.

Thank you, Matt, for your dedication and contributions this session. We appreciate all of your hard work and wish you continued success as you return to the University of Delaware and pursue your future career in public service and the law

DNREC Offers Expanded Assistance for Farmers Due to Significantly Increased Reports of Deer Damage

Delaware farmers experiencing significant crop damage from deer now have expanded access to assistance through the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC).

For the 2026 summer season, qualifying farmers can enroll directly in the Extreme Deer Damage Assistance Program (EDDAP), allowing year round harvesting of antlerless deer on enrolled properties without the usual application requirements. DNREC said the temporary changes are intended to provide immediate relief as farmers face increased deer damage, drought conditions, and rising production costs.

DNREC also noted that deer harvested through the program will be tested as part of the state's response to Delaware's first confirmed case of Chronic Wasting Disease.

For the Record

On the latest episode of For The Record, Senators Pettyjohn and Buckson, Deanna, and Matt discuss the nearly complete Bond and Grant-in-Aid bills, including some concerns Republican members raised in each of the two committees this week, both about the substance and process.
