Senate Republicans Call for Bond Bill to Be Considered Last on June 30

DOVER, DE –The Delaware State Senate Republican Caucus issued the below statement following Thursday’s failure to pass the Capital Improvement Bill (Bond Bill).

"As we enter the final days of session, there are still outstanding pieces of legislation that require further discussion and negotiation. Bond Bill must be considered only after those conversations have taken place and a path forward has been established. Delaying the Bond Bill until the final item on June 30 helps ensure those discussions happen in good faith and with the urgency they deserve.

"Our caucus remains committed to passing a responsible capital improvement budget that reflects sound investments and a collaborative process."

DelDOT Update

Extreme heat is causing roads to buckle across Sussex County, including multiple spots on Route 113, Route 1 near Milford, and near Five Points in Lewes. DelDOT crews are working quickly to level the pavement and remove hazards, with permanent repairs to follow.

With more 90+ degree days ahead, drivers should stay alert, slow down near work zones, and report any buckling by calling #77 when safe.

National Coaches Day

On Wednesday, Senator Buckson recognized coaches from DSU in the Senate chamber as we proclaimed October 6th as National Coaches Day in Delaware. Coaches are more than instructors, they’re motivators, role models, and lifelong influencers who shape character and instill values in our students. The two inspiring speeches we heard were a powerful reminder of that, and we thank all coaches for the impact they make every day.

National First Responders Day

Senator Hocker sponsored a resolution proclaiming October 28, 2025, as National First Responders Day in the State of Delaware. Our firefighters, police officers, EMTs and paramedics put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities. We encourage everyone to take the time to recognize and thank the first responders in their lives for all that they do.

For the Record

Senator Pettyjohn, Deanna, Christy, and Matt discuss why our caucus opted to block this year's Bond Bill, the latest with HB 210 and the attacks on our agriculture industry, and President Trump's effective foreign policy week. We also delve into the New York City mayoral race and the effect it could have on our nation's and state's politics.
