Read-A-Loud with Senator Wilson

State Senator Dave Wilson visited Mrs. Brown’s second grade class Friday, where he spent time reading with students and talking about his role as a State Senator. He also shared with the class about the importance of agriculture and the role farming plays in Delaware’s communities and economy.


Thank you to Mrs. Brown and her students for the warm welcome and thoughtful questions. Opportunities like this help connect young students with the work happening in their state government. 

Sussex County Science Fair

Senator Pettyjohn joined Secretary of Education Cindy Marten at the Sussex County Science Fair Friday morning at Delaware Tech in Georgetown. The level of creativity, effort, and knowledge on display was truly impressive. Students did an outstanding job not only designing their projects, but also confidently explaining their research and findings.

DOC's Citizen Academy

The Delaware Department of Correction is now accepting applications for its Spring 2026 Citizens Academy in New Castle County. The six-week program runs Tuesday evenings from April 14 through May 19 in the Wilmington area and offers participants a behind-the-scenes look at prison operations, probation and parole, community corrections, and reentry efforts.


Open to Delaware residents age 18 and older, the academy includes presentations, facility tours, and discussions with DOC leadership, staff, and incarcerated and reentering individuals. Applications are due by March 20 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the class is filled.
