The Joint Finance Committee has wrapped up its budget markup process and will soon present the Delaware General Assembly with its budget draft. The Joint Capital Improvement Committee will meet later in June to complete its Bond Bill markup.

We will keep you updated as those two bills, as well as the Grants-in-Aid legislation, come together.

Caesar Rodney Statue

For many years, both before and since being elected to serve in the Senate, Senator Eric Buckson has advocated that the Caesar Rodney statue that once stood in Rodney Square in Wilmington be removed from storage and again put on display. It has been a long battle, but the statue has now been removed from the storage facility and has made its way to Washington D.C. as part of our nation's 250th celebration.

As great as that is, Senator Buckson says the work continues as a permanent location back here in Delaware needs to be found.

This past week, the he posted two videos providing an update about what's to come and why he think it's important to acknowledge all of Caesar Rodney's story.

Both videos can be found on Facebook via the links below:

Lafayette Place Groundbreaking

Senator Dave Wilson joined federal, state, and local officials in Milford for the groundbreaking of Lafayette Place, a long-awaited affordable housing project that has been decades in the making. It is expected to include up to 95 affordable housing units.

Projects like this do not happen overnight, and the senator thanks the Interfaith Community Housing of Delaware and everyone who stayed committed to seeing this vision become a reality for the Milford community.

For The Record

Senator Pettyjohn, Deanna, Matt, and Blake discuss the long night of session from this past Thursday that featured extensive debate on SB 272 and SB 300. Could this be a preview of what's to come in June? They also provide insight on various bills including the pros and cons of HB 440, which would have proposed changes to the Delaware Constitution be considered through a statewide referendum.
