We had a great Commitment Celebration on Sunday! A huge thank you to Christy Schneider and the team that carried out our Oktoberfest celebration that day. As of this writing we are currently sitting at $524,590.00 in commitments for moving Forward in Freedom.
Our team anticipated some additional follow-up after the Commitment Sunday due to the impact of our current situation. To that end, our Follow-Up team, led by our Head Elder, Jonathan Orr, is reaching out to some of our families who haven’t yet made a commitment. Remember, those commitments include prayer – if you’ve lost income and are unable to make an above and beyond financial commitment at this time, we still hope you’ll commit to moving Forward in Freedom with us in prayer and through your time and talents! Please take a moment to fill out the Commitment Card as soon as possible if you haven’t already at the link here: https://www.mvlcs.org/commit.
Allow me to share the immediate next steps before us. In the next couple of weeks we will be working with the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) to determine the borrowing power of our congregation to enter into the remodeling and construction plans of the next three years. Those decisions will weigh heavily on the commitments made by the congregation, which are held as collateral by LCEF. Our Board is meeting on October 20th, so having a good picture of our commitments before that meeting is going to be critical to the recommendation that will come before the congregation. Thank you for spending time in prayer about your commitment as we move Forward in Freedom.
In Christ,
Pastor Derek Klemm

Hello School Families & Staff!
I'm excited to announce that we will be holding a Trunk or Treat event on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm! This will be a fun night of fellowship for all. This is a free event to attend but we are asking that everyone RSVP for 1 of 4 half hour time slots. We always need your help to make this event successful.
-
RAFFLE BASKET DONATIONS: We will have 2 raffle baskets and would love your help with donations. Any donations (gift cards, items or monetary donations) would be greatly appreciated and are completely voluntary. Raffle tickets will be sold at the event and since we are having timed arrivals, you do not need to be present to win.
-
CANDY/TREAT DONATIONS: Candy/treat bags will be created the week of the event. Each child will pick up their treat bag as they exit the event. This will keep touch points down during the event.
-
CAR/TRUNK DECORATING: Join in and register your decorated car for the event. All decorated cars in attendance will be entered in a "Best of Show" contest for a special prize. You will need to "register" your theme (please keep themes to child friendly ones: super hero's, Disney, sports, harvest, etc). We do ask that each car donate 300+ pieces of candy (think Sam's or Costco size bag). Sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0C4BA4A62BA7F58-trunk
-
RSVP TO ATTEND: In order to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines and do our best to keep everyone attending safe, all attendees will need to RSVP for one of 4 half hour time slots. This will allow us to keep social distancing guidelines as well as time to play all the fun games. Free to attend! RSVP: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0C4BA4A62BA7F58-trunk1
All donations need to be into the school or church office by 5:00pm,Tuesday, October 20th.
Have a Faith Lutheran high schooler that needs volunteer hours? Volunteer hours are available for our event.
Let me know if they can help.
Please feel free to email or call me with any questions.
Blessings,
Michelle Rossmann

Thanks be to God!
In light of the changes announced by the governor on gathering limits, effective immediately we will no longer be capping worship attendance in the sanctuary at 50 people. Functionally, we should be able to safely seat anybody who wants to come to worship without needing to use overflow spaces. We will move to every other pew for distancing and will follow other health and safety directives as previously practiced.
We will also continue to stream our worship services. Whether in-person or online we look forward to joining you for worship on the occasion of our Forward in Freedom Commitment Celebration!

Mission West Online Conference
|
A free online Mission Conference presented by the Northwest, California Nevada Hawaii, and Pacific Southwest Districts of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
Date: Saturday, October 17, 2020
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
We know that we are experiencing a time of upheaval and change greater than any in recent memory. Issues like a global pandemic, social unrest, and deeply polarizing politics are placing a heavy burden on churches and their leaders to respond faithfully. This often can lead to an increasingly inward focus or even ministry paralysis when it comes to meeting community needs with the mission of Christ. Rev. Dr. Tod Bolsinger, author of the popular book Canoeing the Mountains, defines the type of leadership necessary for this uncharted territory as “energizing a community of people toward their own transformation in order to accomplish a shared mission in the face of a changing world.” Join Dr. Bolsinger and an amazing group of leaders as we convene Mission West, an online Mission Conference October 17, 2020. This event is a partnership between the three west coast Districts of the LCMS, and will be offered FREE to you and your congregations. It’s our prayer that socially distanced gatherings of leaders from across our region will tune in from 11:00am – 3:00 pm on Saturday October 17th as we engage real issues of public health, social justice, and Government interaction with innovative and missional responses.

New Member Sunday Intensive
|
“The On-Ramp” journey will cover the teachings of Mountain View and encourage you in your daily walk as a disciple of Jesus.
In addition, this is an entry point for those interested in joining the congregation from outside the Lutheran tradition – however, there is no obligation or expectation to become a member. While people who are transferring membership from another LCMS congregation are not required to attend “The On-Ramp” in order to transfer membership, you’re more than welcome be part of it.

Have you missed attending Sunday School? We have missed you and we are thrilled to be back and ready for a much needed Sunday school reboot.
Many are asking: "How then do we uncover the way of Jesus together?"
We now have an opportunity to utilize endless possibilities and in the comfort of your own space!
We hope this helps you connect with us in different ways especially when we would rather be together in person. If this is a different option, let's take it! We may be temporarily apart however we are so pleased to be able to see each other at social events such as Popsicles in the Park, Donuts in the Park, and Trunk or Treat etc.

Women's Bible Study
Thursday nights
|
We started meeting regularly Thursday Night in August at 7pm via Zoom.
If interested, please email Katie Wiltse below.
We are going to kick off with a Bible Study on Vocations using the book called Callings for Life- God’s Plan, Your Purpose. The author is Pastor Jeff Leininger.
We all have multiple callings (vocations) in our lives, even the ones you might not have noticed before. Using prayers, Bible verses, and teachings from important Lutheran figures to ground ourselves in Christ’s teachings and the theology surrounding how God calls you. Reflect on your current callings and new ones that God has been calling you to all along.
