Delaware Tech's New Seaford

Innovation Center

Senators Dave Wilson and Bryant Richardson took part in the ribbon cutting and tour of Delaware Tech’s new Seaford Innovation Center alongside Representative Danny Short, former Governor and current Wilmington Mayor John Carney, and leaders from Seaford and Delaware Tech.

Located at the former Nylon Capital Shopping Center, this new facility is another great example of the revitalization taking place in Seaford. By expanding access to hands-on workforce training and career development programs, Delaware Tech is helping prepare the next generation of skilled workers while supporting the needs of local businesses and industries.

Sussex County Legislators Forum

On Thursday, Senator Brian Pettyjohn participated in the Ability Network of Delaware’s Annual Fall Member Retreat in Bethany Beach as a panelist for the Spotlight on Services in Sussex County Legislators Forum.

As Sussex County continues to grow, so does the need for expanded healthcare services, particularly for individuals with disabilities and those who rely on specialized care. During the discussion, Senator Pettyjohn addressed how federal investments through H.R. 1 could help expand healthcare access in the region, including funding to support the development of a medical school in Sussex County.

Thank you to the Ability Network of Delaware for hosting this important conversation and to its members for their continued work supporting Delawareans with disabilities and their families.

Dyed Diesel Fuel Temporary Waiver

Dover - Delaware Secretary of Transportation Shanté Hastings and

Secretary of Agriculture Don Clifton

announced temporary relief for agricultural and forestry haulers impacted by the current global diesel fuel supply emergency, resulting in record-high prices.

As agricultural and forestry vehicles may travel between Maryland and Delaware, Secretary Hastings announced that Delaware enforcement agents will honor Maryland's temporary waiver, allowing qualifying agricultural and forestry haulers to use dyed diesel fuel without fuel inspection penalties or associated fees. It is the intent of Secretary Hastings to continue to provide relief for the duration of its applicability in Maryland. Should Maryland rescind or modify this waiver, this action will be re-evaluated by the state.

Dyed diesel fuel indicates that the fuel is exempt from highway excise taxes and is normally not permitted for use in vehicles operating on public roadways. The temporary action is intended to provide flexibility to agricultural and forestry operations during the current fuel supply disruption and ensure that essential goods and services can continue moving throughout the region.
