Did you know that we have a Memorial at Bartram that honors all of those who lost their lives and the survivors with a piece of the Twin Towers?
After 9/11 the Young Republicans Club at Bartram Trail High School wanted to get a piece of the Twin Towers from ground zero to make a Memorial at Bartram. They sent letters to New York City officials and with the help of their teachers, they were able to bring a piece to our school.
Eddie Ponce (Building Coordinator in 2002) borrowed a truck and along with Principal Jim Springfield (Principal in 2002) and Barry Craig (Athletic Director 2002) drove to ground zero. They were allowed to select a piece of steel from the pile. The piece of the steel was cut off of a larger piece and loaded onto the truck. The piece weighs 700 pounds and it was so big it dented the truck.
The piece of steel was then given to Bob Kirk (School Artist) who melded it along with a piece of what the metal is supposed to look like into the sculpture that is still standing in our courtyard today. The "V" stands for Victory. It was unveiled a year after the attacks at Bartram.
If you want to read more about this wonderful story please click on the link below and read the articles written by Dan Scanlon on Friday, September 9, 2011 in Jacksonville.com: Memories of 9/11 live in Bartram Trail Sculpture.

LINK Leaders are Tutoring
|
|
The Link leaders here at BTHS have been sponsoring a peer tutoring class. Many students here are in need of additional help and/or tutoring and are unable to come before or after school to sit with teachers. Often times our students have conflicts with sports, transportation deficits, or conflicts with work schedules. To remedy this, we have 12 student tutors in room 755 who can help any student with any course. That’s right, we have help for classes ranging from the lowest level to the highest, and it is offered during every lunch period (4th hour) for FREE. Students may grab their lunch, and then head to room 755 to learn while eating. Because students may not voluntarily come, we wanted to let parents know that this help is available if there is a need.
|
|
Throughout the month of September, the BTHS Beta Club is hosting a drive for both hygiene products and gently worn SAT/ACT books. Items can be dropped off in Ms. Peyman's classroom, room N209. Service hours will be given as long as students provide their first and last name and first period teacher. Let’s make a difference!

Do You Believe in Magical Illusions?

Grand Illusionist & Comedy Magic Performer Garry Carson Wednesday, October 12, 2016 Only $10 a ticket Bartram Trail Auditorium
Our chapter of Science National Honor Society (SNHS), Sigma Nu Theta - SNQ, will be hosting Garry & Janine Carson from Carson Entertainment on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in the Bartram Trail Auditorium. Garry Carson is a Grand Illusionist and Comedy Magic performer who runs a charitable show through his sponsor Magic Link Inc. The motto of this fundraising program is “Using magic to raise funds for worthy causes”.
SNHS is driven to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in the youth of the local community to better prepare them for the rigors of post-secondary education and make a difference by investing in the world of tomorrow. Therefore, the honor society is seeking various professionals to help us collect money to sponsor the show by Garry & Janine Carson. The Science National Honor Society will receive all proceeds from the night’s ticket sales, which will be available soon for $10.00 each. These proceeds will be used throughout the year to cover all membership fees, to purchase and maintain scientific equipment used by the club during any and all of our competitions, and for our day-to-day operational budgetary needs.
Feel free to contact Mr. Patterson, christopher.patterson@stjohns.k12.fl.us for information regarding ticket purchases or if you would like to help donate money for the Science National Honor Society.

BT Athletics is going PAPERLESS!!!
|
|
NOTIFICATION:
Good news! The Bartram Trail Athletic Department is going paperless. You will be able to read the forms, sign them electronically and submit them. The only exception is the sport physical form (EL2) which will still have to be completed by the physician and submitted electronically (downloaded/scanned to us).
REGISTRATION:
In order to transition to this new paperless environment, each athlete will have to register at: http://registermyathlete.com/schools/
|
|
REMINDERS:
Our expectation is that every athlete be registered by their parent/guardian before the start of the sport season’s tryouts
Any physical that we already have already turned in for the 2016-17 school year will be uploaded for you once you have created a registration/account for your athlete.
Should you have any questions, or technical difficulty/hardship, please contact Shelly Vann (shelly.vann@stjohns.k12.fl.us), our athletic trainer for assistance.
You can also go to the BT Athletics Website/Forms tab on our BT website: http://www-bths.stjohns.k12.fl.us/athletics/forms/
