Volume 4 Issue 3

Friday 4-H Nugget

Greetings 4-H Community,

Happy November! 4-H Enrollment has now been open for a little over a month. Speaking of, have you enrolled yet? If not please be sure to enroll today. This will allow us to have the most up to date information and get it to you quicker.

This past week we got to celebrate our volunteers and the impact they have made in our community. There are also several upcoming events for the 4-H program. Please note that our office will be closed on November 11 for Veterans Day. We encourage each of our 4-H members to write a card to a Veteran and thank them for their service. If you have any questions be sure to reach out!

All the best,

Robby Kelly & Sthele Greybar

Extension Educators

Congratulations to our Volunteers!

Last week, October 27, we celebrated our 4-H volunteers for their hard work, dedication and impact they have on our program. Many thanks to Ceres Solutions, Interra Credit Union and Elkhart County Farm Bureau, Inc. for making this night possible.

We'd like to take a moment to congratulate Elkhart County 4-H corporation award winners this year:

Friends of 4-H: Mike McKinney, Greg Stump and White Veterinary Clinic.

Bronze Award: Taylar McKinley

Silver Award: Joe Guerrero

Gold Award: Tammy Gerber

Platinum Award: Barb Bute

A very special award that 4-H Corporation gives out is the Spirit of 4-H Award. This award is given out from time to time, but not every year. The Spirit of 4-H is awarded to people who have a long history of involvement with the Elkhart County 4-H program. This year Charlie and Beth Phillips received this award. They have a combined service of 99 years!

Congratulations to all of our award winners and thank you to all of our volunteers for what you do each and every day to make a positive impact in our community.

Need 4-H Manuals?

When you complete your 4-H enrollment you will get an email from our office with the club contact information sheet and meeting dates. Be sure to check those out and participate in the meetings.

You will also get a link to a google form to order your project manuals and other materials. We do have most of them published on our website for download as well.

Friend of Extension Named

4-H is one part of the Purdue Extension system, but we offer so much more! Did you know that we also offer programing around Health and Human Sciences and Ag and Natural Resources?

Each year we celebrate the success and impact that Purdue Extension Elkhart County has made. We also get to honor a Friend of Extension. This year our Friend of Extension award honoree is one of our 4-H Volunteers. Harold Schmucker of the Elkhart County 4-H Shooting Sports program was named the 2022 Friend of Extension. Harold is a person that goes above and beyond to ensure that our youth have a safe place to learn more about shooting sports safety, and that the mission and vision of Purdue Extension is promoted in the community. Congratulations Harold on being named the 2022 Friend of Extension.

There are many opportunities for leadership and citizenship growth. Junior Leaders opens the doors to many new trips and scholarship opportunities as well!
