The Winston community wishes our wonderful Math Teacher, Cristal Perez, the very best as she starts her maternity leave today. We can’t wait to meet her sweet baby next time she visits campus. In anticipation of her leave, student schedules were adjusted for the second semester with our teachers and Mrs. Garrison showing off their math teaching skills.

Resource Fair & Parent Meet and Greet Tomorrow!

We’re excited to welcome families and community members to our Community Resource Fair & Open House tomorrow, Saturday, January 31st. This afternoon is an opportunity to connect with a variety of educational, therapeutic, and support resources and spend time together in a welcoming setting. We hope you can stop by between 11am - 2pm. Please share this invitation with friends and families throughout the greater San Diego community.

Sign-up Deadline extended to Today! 20 Participants needed to run the camp

Attending an overnight camp provides opportunities for learning and growth in a fun, structured, and highly supported way. Students learn valuable skills - Packing the appropriate items! Sleeping in a new environment! This leads to the development of greater independence and confidence - traits needed as they move towards adulthood. Trained Winston and camp staff support students with this adventure every step of the way. 

To move forward with planning, we need a minimum of 20 students to attend.

This February, students at The Winston School will have the opportunity to participate in Gallop Into Reading, a unique equine-assisted literacy program offered through The Rosie Project Charitable Foundation and adapted for our campus during the school day.

Gallop Into Reading is based on Horse Powered Reading, a hands-on, research-informed approach that uses structured, play-based activities inspired by work with horses to promote both skills and interest in reading. Students will engage in movement-based literacy activities that help students connect reading strategies to real-world experiences and emotions while learning about horses. The focus will be on building confidence and reducing anxiety around reading, while strengthening knowledge and understanding of horses. In addition to horses, therapy dogs will be on campus as well for students who prefer canine interactions.

We are excited about this partnership and opportunity for our students!
