If you walk into Winston's art room on any given day, you’ll be instantly met with students fully absorbed in creating, designing, or discussing how the art makes them feel. A lot of that comes down to Ms. Carol and Ms. Libby, and their innovative teaching and incredible support. Grounded in their expressive arts backgrounds, they help every student find a way into the work, regardless of their starting point.

What makes our art program special isn't just the teaching, it's how closely our teachers pay attention. Like all of our teachers, Ms. Carol and Ms. Libby have a gift for noticing exactly where a student's interest lights up, and building on it to support growth in ways that go far beyond the canvas.

Your Annual Fund gift helps us meet those moments of interest with the right tools. New materials, equipment, and resources that let a student's curiosity turn into real skill-building. Every gift, any size, helps us bring something new into that room.

Every gift opens a door.

The School’s “Campus to Match our Mission” construction work continues full speed ahead! We are now able to see the outline of what is to come: gorgeous, airy auditorium ready for student and community events, a front entrance that is highly functional and welcoming, offices and spaces custom to our unique needs. The framing phase will soon be finished, plumbing and electrical are underway, the stucco, windows/doors and finishes are cued up and ready.

Students, staff, families, and neighbors - thank you for your positive feedback and support of this project. As someone whose office backs right up to the work being done, I know the noise and disruption are real. The contractors have done an excellent job taking breaks while our students are on break and lunch, managing the work during City approved hours, and staying on schedule! Thank you to our contractor, Hoffman and Associates!

These new spaces will be ready for use in January. We had some termite damage that slowed down the process a little, pushing out the move-in date by a few weeks. We’ll be able to do significant finish work during winter break, and by mid-January, we will move in.

I couldn’t be more excited about the progress and your support. We are continuing our fundraising - your support is what makes this all possible. Support comes in many forms - personal giving, sharing our impact to those who are able to give, and more! Please contact me to learn how you can be a part of this campus transformation.

Middle school students enjoyed a wonderful trip to the local library last week! They explored the library’s resources, discovered new books, and had the opportunity to connect with learning beyond the classroom. It was a meaningful experience that encouraged curiosity, reading, and a love of lifelong learning.

Join us at next week’s Fall Open House! Feel free to share this flyer with anyone who might be looking for everything Winston has to offer!

Make WinstonSchool.org a Trusted/Whitelisted Domain

The Winston School teachers and administration send emails to parents throughout the school year, and we want to make sure families receive all these important communications.

If you have noticed that expected messages from the school are not appearing in your inbox, they may have been directed to your Trash or SPAM folder by your email provider. We strongly recommend setting up a filter in your email program to recognize “@winstonschool.org” as a trusted domain in your “Safe Senders” list—also known as whitelisting a domain.

Once this email filter is set up, you will be much less likely to miss an important message from The Winston School!

Hello, fellow Winston Bulldogs—students, faculty, and staff!

My name is Kevin Stone, Class of ’99, and I am proud to serve as The Winston School’s Alumni Coordinator.

During my years at Winston from 1992–1999, I never imagined that I would find my own voice, learn to advocate for myself, and discover my potential as a future leader. Winston’s unique program helped me develop the confidence and skills that have continued to guide me throughout my life. Today, I enjoy mentoring families who are facing challenges similar to those my family and I experienced.

As Alumni Coordinator, my goal is to maintain a strong connection between The Winston School and its alumni community.

If you are entering your senior year, I would love to hear your ideas for fun activities and events that could bring students and alumni together.
