Get ready for a week of school spirit! Students and staff are invited to join the fun with dress-up days and Academic Olympics the week of October 26th. Students shared their creative ideas, and Student Council selected the themed days below:
- Monday: Pajama Day—get cozy in your favorite school-appropriate pajamas!
- Tuesday: Anything but a Backpack Day—bring your school supplies in a creative, safe alternative to a backpack.
- Wednesday: Music/Band Shirt Day—show off your favorite artist, band, or music-themed shirt.
- Thursday: Matching Day—coordinate your outfits with a friend or group!
- Friday: Halloween Dress-Up—celebrate in a fun, school-appropriate costume.
We encourage everyone to participate, cheer each other on during Academic Olympics which will take place on Tuesday, October 27th, and help make the week memorable!
All outfits should follow our school’s dress code, allow students to participate comfortably in learning, and feature appropriate images and language. Please leave costume weapons, full-face masks, and unsafe or disruptive props at home.
We can’t wait to celebrate our school community and have fun together this fall!

Here at Winston, athletics look a little different, and that’s the point. For many of our students, team sports are an opportunity that never existed for them before, but here, everyone plays. Our coaches know each student as an individual, and know how to coach them as a team, in a friendly, low-stress environment where students can try new sports and discover new passions they didn’t know they had.
Physical activity and team sports help our students build confidence, develop friendships, practice responsibility, and strengthen social-emotional and executive functioning skills. From learning to work together and communicate effectively to navigating the excitement of winning and the lessons in losing, athletics teaches life skills that extend far beyond the playing field.
Your gifts to the Annual Fund help cover the many costs that make these opportunities possible, including league fees, uniforms, transportation, equipment, snacks, and everything in between.
This year, we’re especially excited to introduce our new cheer program, creating another opportunity for students to find their place, build school spirit, and experience the joy of being part of a Winston team. From uniforms to pom-poms, your support helps bring these new experiences to life!
Every gift, of any size, opens the door to meaningful opportunities for our students. Together, we can continue to support the interests and experiences that help every Winston student thrive.
Every gift opens a door.

Friday Night Feeling—Bulldog Style!
I still remember the feeling of game day: the smell of freshly cut grass, the excitement of representing your school on the field, and the high-fives and celebrations that carried right into the hallways. There’s something special about the way a game brings a school together. And as the summer heat finally begins to fade, and yes, it has been very hot!, that familiar excitement is arriving at our school. It is officially football season, Bulldogs!
Our first game against Sierra gave our students an opportunity to represent our school and put their hard work into action. Adding to the excitement was a new addition to our school community: our cheer activity! Students had their first opportunity to show what they have been practicing, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and Bulldog spirit to game day. Hearing “Let’s go, Bulldogs!” echo across the field made the occasion even more special.
As an assistant principal, what I enjoy most is seeing students take ownership of these moments. Stepping onto the field, performing a cheer in front of others, encouraging a teammate, or celebrating a classmate all give students opportunities to practice the independence, pride, and excellence we want to see throughout our school.
Football season is just one example of how our students are growing, connecting, and finding ways to contribute. Thank you, families, for cheering them on as they build their confidence and help make our school a place where we can all feel proud to belong.
Let’s go, Bulldogs!
