Tuesday evening, we brought parents together to shape the future of our school in a gathering marked by enthusiastic discussions and presentations led by Laura Cunitz, President of The Winston School Board, alongside Head of School Mary Sterling-Torretti and Assistant Head of School Kelsey Garrison.
Mrs. Cunitz passionately outlined plans for our campus redevelopment project and provided a brief overview of the initial phase of our upcoming capital campaign, Empowering Every Student, Every Day. New campus renderings were showcased, allowing parents to offer valuable input and feedback. Additionally, Mrs. Cunitz introduced Kim Kanetis, the Project Manager and Senior Director of Business and Operations, who will spearhead the campus redevelopment.
"Our comprehensive approach to the renovation will focus on creating a comfortable and calm classroom experience. However, the buildings are just the framework that will lead to enhanced programs for our students," stated Mrs. Cunitz, whose son, Graham, graduated from Winston in 2015.
Mrs. Sterling-Torretti and Mrs. Garrison led engaging discussions on our Mission and Vision planning, emphasizing parents' crucial role in shaping and implementing their student's education, particularly as we prepare for our WASC accreditation self-study in 2025.
Throughout the evening, active engagement and feedback were encouraged and appreciated. John Weber, Special Education and Admissions Manager, Russell Jacobsen, Summer School Director, and Jane Siemonsma, Student Affairs Manager, supported our endeavors and joined parents in meaningful conversations.
Mrs. Sterling-Torretti concluded, "We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the parents who attended and showed their unwavering support for our school's mission and vision. Your dedication is truly appreciated and fuels our efforts to provide every student with the best possible educational experience."
