We'd never have got a chance to go outside and look at the earth if it hadn't been for space exploration and NASA. ~ James Lovelock

It’s hard to believe we’re already in April—and with spring break and a packed schedule of activities, it’s definitely a blink-and-you-miss-it kind of month!

In Advisory, we’ll be focusing on metacognition, which is just a fancy way of saying “thinking about our thinking.” Students will have a chance to reflect on how they learn best, set goals, and build strategies to stay on track as we head into the final stretch of the school year.

We’re also gearing up for Earth Day on April 22! As part of our discussions, we’ll be connecting this year’s celebration to the recent NASA Artemis II mission. It’s a great opportunity to zoom out (literally!) and think about how special our planet is—and how we can all do our part to take care of it.

Looking forward to a thoughtful, fun, and fast-paced month ahead!

After school programs this year include:

Abrakadoodle Art Program

Dates: June 15 – June 26

We’re excited to partner with Abrakadoodle, a leader in creative visual arts education for kids worldwide. Since 2002, Abrakadoodle has reached more than a million children through school and community programs. Their mobile art experiences feature hands-on exploration and “process art,” where kids learn through creativity, discovery, and a little bit of messiness! Each session offers professional instruction and lesson plans that inspire imagination while meeting national standards for visual arts education.

Culinary Intensive: The Art of the Grill

Dates: June 29 - July 10

Join us for a two-week deep dive into the backyard BBQ and the art of grilling! In this two-hour daily program, students will learn meal planning, nutrition, budgeting, and of course, cooking. Under guided instruction, students will explore balanced meals and outdoor cooking techniques while developing life skills and teamwork along the way.

Winston Role Playing Group

Dates: July 13 - July 23

Hosted by our very own Winston Dungeons & Dragons club, this two-week after school adventure will introduce students to Warhammer Fantasy: Role Play, where they’ll explore the haunted ruins of Mordheim. This collaborative storytelling experience fosters problem-solving, creativity, and social connection, giving students the chance to work together through strategy, teamwork, and imagination.
