The Winston School Class of 2024 seniors had an incredible day on Monday exploring America's #1 ballpark, Petco Park. From the thrill of the field warning track to the prestige of the press box, every moment was filled with excitement and insight into baseball. The behind-the-scenes tour offered a glimpse into the lives of players and staff, including sitting in the major league dugout and visiting the visitors' Clubhouse and Padres Hall of Fame. The adventure continued through San Diego's sports legacy at the Breitbard Hall of Fame. Every stop, from luxury suites to iconic buildings, was a reminder of the passion for America's favorite pastime. Special thanks to Mr. Manny for making this unforgettable experience possible for our students! 🎓⚾✨

We're thrilled to share that the remodeling of our largest classroom building, adjacent to the back parking lot, is well underway! Thanks to two incredibly generous donations, funding is secured, and the project is at full speed ahead!

With permits in the works and extensive preparation and planning already in motion, construction is scheduled to commence on Monday, June 10. The building and its surroundings will be fenced off and screened to minimize disruptions to our summer program.

We aim to complete this building by the start of the 2024-25 school year, providing our students with beautiful spaces and two additional classrooms.

But this is just the beginning! The Winston School Capital Campaign will soon launch to raise funds for the remaining buildings. We'll need everyone's support to achieve our fundraising target and initiate construction on the rest of the campus by Fall 2025.

If you're interested in contributing to this vital fundraising effort, please reach out to me. We genuinely cannot achieve this success without you!

Today, we entered the dazzling world of creativity and talent at the Winston School talent show! Today's performances were spectacular, from heart-stirring melodies to a jaw-dropping dance and instrumental routine with Mr. Jackson and Lucas K. Other performers included Rene V., Lyla L., Kaia F., Kat W., Claire B., and Naia S. The stage came alive with a kaleidoscope of talents, showcasing our students' immense skill and passion.

But wait, there's more! Head to our YouTube channel to see more performances and learn about the artistic talents of our students. Get ready to be amazed!

On Tuesday evening, Ashley Pallisco, our College and Career Post-High School Planning Coordinator, hosted an informative session featuring representatives from the San Diego Regional Center, the Department of Rehabilitation Student Services, and Beacons North County. Ms. Pallisco also introduced her new website, which is available here and will be linked to our school website early next week.

The program was an excellent opportunity for networking and collaboration among external agencies, staff, parents, and guardians, all to support our students.

On Thursday, our 9th graders embarked on an exciting field trip to the Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park. Students enjoyed interactive exhibit galleries, a film in the Heikoff Giant Dome Theater, and the chance to learn from expert educators and scientists committed to science education. It was a fun and inspiring journey into the wonders of science and an enriching adventure for everyone!

Providing lunch to deserving students through Mr. Jacobsen's Culinary Arts Cafe is a wonderful initiative. It not only ensures that these students are recognized for their classmanship but also allows them to experience the artistry and creativity of our Culinary Arts program. Our students have been introduced to various cuisines, cooking techniques, and ingredients, fostering a deeper appreciation for food and nutrition. Additionally, it can serve as a platform for teaching valuable life skills such as teamwork, time management, and problem-solving.

Our Environmental Gardening Club provided the freshly picked salad greens from our school garden!

In the magical world crafted by the imaginative minds and individual interpretations of Ms. Jana's English 9th grade, N. D. Stevenson's "Nimona" unveils a realm where ordinary rules bend and extraordinary abilities reign. Nimona, a spirited young shapeshifter, leads a band of misfit companions on an epic journey through fantastical and dangerous realms. With each twist and turn, they confront formidable foes and discover the true power of friendship, courage, and embracing one's unique gifts. As they navigate treacherous landscapes and unravel ancient mysteries, Nimona and her companions inspire readers to embrace their inner magic and forge their destinies.

Ensuring the safety of every student and staff member is paramount in fostering a positive learning environment at the Winston School. Regular drills for fires and code blue emergencies are fundamental to our preparedness efforts. In the coming days, students will undergo training to enhance our community's readiness for emergencies.

Tickets are on sale now in the Front Office to experience the magic of the Under the Sea High School Prom hosted by the Winston School Student Council on May 17th. Let's make waves together! 🌊✨
