Dear Winston Summer School Families,

As we bring summer school to a close, I want to recognize the exceptional effort and engagement our students demonstrated throughout the session. Classes were lively and students worked hard all summer, taking on academic challenges with focus and determination.

Beyond the classroom, we enjoyed two fantastic days focused on fun activities and community building. Students played games like bocce ball and Kuub (viking lawn chess), participated in sports, explored their creativity with art activities, and took community walks to local favorites such as Powerhouse Park and the Del Mar Eagle.

Our student athletes also completed their summer training in the Athletics Program and are now well-prepared as we look ahead to the start of the season.

I am incredibly proud of the dedication shown by both our students and staff. Thank you all for making this summer a success. I look forward to our students carrying this momentum into a strong and positive fall semester.

Sincerely,

Mr. Jacobsen

Name: Lisa Kondrat

Title: Director of Admissions and College & Career Coordinator

What are you teaching this year or what is your new role?

I'll be guiding families through our admissions process and supporting students as they plan for life after Winston.

What should students call you? Ms. Kondrat

What brought you to Winston? I was initially drawn to Winston's mission, and then came to truly appreciate the thoughtful approach from team members I met throughout the process and the wonderful position the School is in as we look toward the future. The location is not bad either!

Hometown: Tucson, Arizona

Favorite sport, book, or music: I'm a lifelong UofA basketball season ticket holder & fan, but softball was my first love growing up. I have a revolving queue of books on my Kindle at all times; picking a favorite would be almost impossible.

In your free time: I'm exploring all the fun things about San Diego that 100+ degree days don't allow for in Arizona! I also spend a lot of my free time running around with my many little nieces & nephews.

Fun fact: I run a leadership program for high school students focused on civic engagement and political advocacy, which affords me the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. each year to meet with elected officials in all branches of government.

The students put their culinary skills to the test by baking, icing, and decorating vanilla cakes entirely from scratch! From mixing batter to adding the final sprinkle, they showed creativity, patience, and teamwork—plus had a sweet reward to enjoy at the end! 🧁🍰

You’re Invited! ☀️🥪🪁
