Last night, The Winston School held its Back-to-School Night hosted by our new Principal, Kelsey Garrison, which featured a meet and greet, staff introductions, and opportunities to support the school. Even with the remodeling of Building 5 underway, our educators and parents gathered in classrooms and quiet spots across campus, demonstrating the same resilience and flexibility our staff and students display daily. We especially enjoyed meeting our new families and reconnecting with familiar faces, strengthening the bonds within our community. Classroom discussions included introductions, an overview of class expectations, syllabi, textbooks, and a Q&A session. The evening was filled with engaging conversations and informative class visits, celebrating the unique and inspiring community we serve and marking a fantastic start to the new school year.

The Winston School kicked off the new school year with a fantastic schoolwide BBQ, expertly hosted by our talented and hardworking Culinary Arts students under the guidance of Summer School Director and Teacher of History, Mr. Jacobsen. From sizzling burgers to mouth-watering hot dots, the students showcased their culinary skills and teamwork, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for the entire Winston community. This event not only highlighted the students' dedication and talent but also brought everyone together to celebrate the start of another exciting year at Winston.
Schoolwide Star Math assessments will take place next week. The multiple choice test measures math achievement and progression while providing teachers and parents with actionable insights into each student's math proficiency.
Middle School students conducted a science lab with Skittles! This experiment is a great way to engage students with the scientific method in a hands-on and visually appealing way, making abstract concepts more concrete and understandable.
