Supporting Student Success: Balancing Health and Attendance
It was great seeing so many of you last week at Back-to-School Night! The year is off to a great start, with students actively engaging in their classes, activities, and clubs.
However, we recognize that the recent increase in illnesses has presented additional challenges for families. While regular attendance remains crucial, we also understand the importance of keeping your students home when they are unwell. Here are some guidelines to help you navigate this balance:
- If your child has a fever, severe cough, or other contagious symptoms, please keep them home to recover and prevent the spread of illness.
- When your child must be absent, please communicate quickly with the school and work with teachers to make sure your child can catch up on missed work.
- We're committed to supporting students' health and education. If you're absent because of illness, we'll work with you to develop a plan to keep your student on track academically.
Just to remind you, this weekend is our first Saturday School. It’s an excellent opportunity for your student to catch up on work with the support of Winston staff members.
Have a wonderful long weekend!

As the new school year kicks off, we've noticed an above-average rate of absences. To help mitigate this, we recommend the following strategies: staying current on vaccinations, using face masks, maintaining good hygiene, and getting tested for respiratory infections and COVID-19. We also extend our sincere thanks to everyone for keeping us informed about positive COVID-19 test results. These steps can make a significant difference in keeping our community healthy and ensuring a successful school year for all. | |
