Celebrating Identity & Belonging: Cultural Heritage Collage Wall

This month, The Winston School is highlighting the theme of Identity & Belonging with a special community project in the auditorium: the Cultural Heritage Collage Wall.

The collage wall is designed to celebrate the diverse identities, backgrounds, and stories that make up our Winston community. Families, you are encouraged to work with your student to find photos or images to bring to school to post. Everyone is also encouraged to add to the wall words, phrases, or drawings that reflect your sense of identity and belonging.

As the collage grows, it will become a vibrant and colorful reflection of our community—one that not only honors the uniqueness of each member, but also shows the many ways we are connected. Each contribution, whether big or small, is a piece of the larger story of who we are as a school.

We look forward to watching the Cultural Heritage Collage Wall evolve throughout September and invite everyone to stop by the auditorium to experience the creativity, pride, and stories that fill our school.

As singer/songwriter and actor, Selena Gomez once said, “We are all different, and that’s beautiful. But when we come together, we create something even stronger.”

Support Literacy Lab at Winston!

This week, we’re highlighting Literacy Lab, a program that touches every classroom and benefits all students. Literacy Lab relies on skilled staff, engaging educational tools, and hands-on manipulatives to help students strengthen reading literacy and comprehension skills. Your support ensures that our teachers have access to professional development and that every student receives high-quality literacy support. By contributing, you help Winston students build the skills they need to thrive academically and beyond.

Every gift shines a light — here are ways yours makes a difference:

Visionary ($5,000+) – Transformational Impact

Empowers larger-scale enhancements such as technology upgrades, full funding of culinary program supplies, staffing and program enrichment, and lasting opportunities for all students.

Illuminator ($1,000–$4,999) – Enrichment, Clubs & Programs

Supports drama productions, art classes, clubs, and student-led activities like Prom — inspiring creativity and giving students meaningful opportunities to express themselves.  Enables support for innovative learning programs and specialized student supports that transform the educational experience.

Spark ($100–$999) – Student Activities & Educational Trips

Supports school spirit events and student-led initiatives - like Spirit Month and our t-shirt design contest - that build confidence and foster belonging.  Provides hands-on learning opportunities that bridge classroom knowledge with real-world experiences, including subject-specific trips tailored to each grade level.

As a 501(c)(3), your tax-deductible donation to The Winston School immediately benefits our students' learning environment. All contributions — no matter the amount — light the path for student growth. Your gift impacts students immediately, providing opportunities that shape this school year.

Will you be one of the first to join us in lighting the way?

Parents are Invited!

The Parent Association is a wonderful way for families to work together, share ideas, and support the life of the school. Meetings are open, relaxed gatherings where parents can connect with one another, learn more about upcoming activities, and collaborate with school staff to make events great for our students.

You can join us in person on campus or via Zoom (Zoom link below). Whether you’re able to volunteer your time, share creative suggestions, or just come to listen and learn, your presence matters. The Parent Association is about building community, sharing voices, and celebrating our students together.

We hope you’ll join us on September 16th to see what being part of the Parent Association looks like and how you can take part in the year ahead!
