Winston's 10th and 11th-grade students visited Grossmont College in El Cajon for an insightful field trip this week. Highlights included a tour of the Accessibility Resource Center, where students learned about available support services. A stop at the Culinary Department provided a hands-on look at their programs, a standout moment. Students also explored our former Director of Special Education, Dr. Holly Reed's Occupational Therapy room. They had the opportunity to focus on science and fine arts programs, offering a glimpse into potential academic paths. The trip sparked excitement about future opportunities in higher education!

Dr. Good's English 12 class, with support from Ms. Edwards, creatively depicted critical moments from The Wife of Bath's Tale, one of the most famous stories from Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales. Their illustrations highlight the central themes of power, autonomy, and justice while capturing the transformative journey of the knight as he learns the value of respecting women's sovereignty. Through visual storytelling, they bring the tale's moral lesson to life, emphasizing the importance of inner wisdom over external appearances.

On Monday evening, we were joined for a special presentation by Heather Potts, Associate Director of Admissions, Thames at Mitchell College, where we discovered what makes Mitchell College a dynamic and supportive environment for students who learn differently. The event was organized and hosted by Ashley Pallisco, our College & Career Readiness Transition Coordinator.
We learned about Mitchell College's vibrant campus and the exciting opportunities outside the classroom, including Division III athletics, performing arts, and student organizations. We also gained insight into the college's diverse academic programs, majors, and honors programs and discovered how many students find their passion in the performing arts. An inside look at Mitchell’s nationally recognized academic support program revealed how it helps students succeed, and we learned how scholarships and financial aid make the path to college more accessible.
